Senior Tax Accountant – Canadian Accounting


Permanent – Full Time

Shifts- EST/PST Time Zone 8 hours Shift/Five days working


We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team and grow with the company.

Remote Accounting 24x7 is a venture of Lets Chat 24x7 IT Services Pvt Ltd, a professional business IT services company based in India. Our head office is located under the name Lets Chat 24x7 Ltd and Remote Accounting 24x7 is based in Edmonton, Canada.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will have experience in a public accounting firm, be professional in appearance and attitude, and work collaboratively as a member of the team, be highly self-motivated and directed, committed to solving problems efficiently, and interested in being part of an organization committed to continuous growth and improvement. This is a position that must be able to set the standard for integrity and professionalism and interact with a diverse team.

Mainly well versed with Compilation & Possible Review engagement experience (year-end engagement in CaseWare, Preparation of Individual returns T1, Corporate tax returns T2’s, possible working experience of T3, T4 & T5 returns, complex bookkeeping on monthly or quarterly basis on QBO.

Your responsibilities & duties will include:

· The primary duties of the Senior tax accountant will be general bookkeeping and accounting as well as the preparation of financial statements and tax returns.

· Lead end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting functions, including preparation of accurate financial statements and tax returns.

· Handle complex, high-value investment files, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail.

· Manage CPA compilation engagements from initial client intake through to partner-ready files, ensuring full compliance with CPA Canada’s CSRS 4200 standards.

· Prepare and review T2 corporate tax returns from trial balance to final draft, incorporating client-specific adjustments and addressing queries from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

· Prepare and review T1 individual tax returns, including income reporting, deductions, credits, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.

· Draft and review adjustment and review letters to resolve discrepancies or errors in previously filed returns.

· Support tax planning initiatives and year-end processes, including reconciliations, compilations, and engagement deliverables.

· Assist with Canadian payroll processing and indirect tax compliance (GST/HST/PST), including reporting, filing, and analysis.

· Collaborate directly with clients, providing professional accounting services and maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelors or Master’s degree in accounting or finance

· CPA/CA designation or working towards a CPA/CA designation

· At least 3-6 years working experience in Canadian public accounting firm.

· Has an excellent working and training knowledge in QuickBooks online and CaseWare and CCH I-Firm’s TaxPrep Cloud based version or similar Taxation software.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment.

· Effectively monitors multiple or complex projects regularly to check how they are progressing against deadlines.

· Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients' business and maintain strong client relationships

· Proactive thinker willing to ask questions, not just blindly plug numbers

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:
  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience in Canadian accounting and taxation
  • Strong expertise in T1 & T2 tax returns and compilations & possible review engagement experience.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other similar Bookkeeping software
  • Experience with CaseWare, Taxprep, or similar accounting software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple client portfolios
