Join Modern Woodmen as an Accountant and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of agency sales compensation and production reporting. In this role, you'll support budgeting, forecasting, profitability reporting, and compensation analysis while gaining valuable experience and developing subject-matter knowledge of agency compensation programs that directly support business performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Compensation Analytics & Reporting
    • Prepare recurring reports and schedules on agency sales compensation, production metrics, and trends for review.
    • Assist with analysis of sales compensation programs by gathering supporting data and preparing calculations used to evaluate program results.
    • Build working knowledge of agency compensation programs and respond to routine questions from internal partners under the direction of the manager.
  • Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Assist in the preparation of agency department budgets and compile monthly and quarterly variance analysis for management review.
    • Support the development of forecasted sales production and compensation projections as part of the corporate planning process.
    • Compile historical production and compensation data used in long-term planning and distribution system performance reviews.
  • Data Management & Financial Insight
    • Collect, verify, and reconcile agency sales and performance data to support accurate compensation outcomes and financial reporting.
    • Prepare supporting schedules and journal entries related to agency compensation and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
    • Assist with distribution system profitability reporting by preparing underlying data and summary schedules.
  • Collaboration & Process Improvement
    • Work with other department team members to support accurate administration of compensation programs.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and reporting accuracy within assigned processes.
    • Participate in special projects and research assignments related to compensation, planning, and analytics.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Experience in accounting, financial analysis, payroll, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret, reconcile, and analyze financial and compensation-related data.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business applications used for reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members across the organization.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

What we offer:

  • Pay: The hourly pay for this position is $27.75. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment-based sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time, nor can we guarantee future sponsorship.
  • Work Arrangements: This is a full-time hybrid, hourly position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, with flexible start time between 7 a.m.-9 a.m. Hybrid positions work at least four days in office each week. Employees beginning to work in a new hybrid role will be expected to work on-site (five days a week) during the initial training period which may be up to one year. Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change at any time based on business needs.
