We are seeking a dependable and proactive Accountant II to join our Project Finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of accounting processes, developing subject matter expertise, and identifying practical ways to make processes more efficient and effective. The Accountant II will support project accounting, fixed assets, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance research and explanations, while also partnering with other Finance & Accounting groups within the organization for ad-hoc requests and reporting including internal and external audit requests. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and motivated by producing accurate, high-quality work. Beyond completing established tasks, we are looking for someone who is naturally curious and willing to ask, “is there a better way to do this?” This role will have opportunities to improve existing processes, reduce manual workload, strengthen documentation, and help create more efficient and sustainable accounting processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Journal Entries and Financial Reporting- Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including entries related to fixed asset additions and retirements, depreciation, amortization, construction in progress, project closeouts, and timeshare inventory transactions. Evaluate and understand the resulting impact on the financial statements. Account Reconciliations & Analysis- Reconcile and analyze fixed asset, construction in progress, inventory, accumulated depreciation, and other assigned balance sheet accounts. Prepare supporting schedules and roll forwards and reconcile project-level transactions to the general ledger. Accounting Research & Issue Resolution- Research and resolve complex accounting discrepancies related to fixed assets, construction, and inventory. Prepare correcting and cleanup entries as necessary in a timely manner to maintain accurate financial records, minimize financial risk, and safeguard company assets. Analyze business transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment using financial acumen. Fixed Asset & Project Accounting- Maintain accurate fixed asset, inventory, and project accounting records. Support financial reporting, management requests, audits, and other project-related requirements as business needs evolve. Process Improvement & Documentation- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, strengthen, or automate manual accounting processes. Participate in process-improvement initiatives and develop and maintain clear, accurate, and current process documentation. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Understanding of general ledger, project subledger, and journal entries between projects and GL Minimum three (3) years of relevant accounting experience Experience with fixed assets, project accounting, capital expenditures or construction accounting is preferred but not required. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Blackline, or similar financial systems is a plus Timeshare /Hospitality industry experience a plus. CPA or CMA is a plus Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite tools Comfortable investigating issues and taking ownership through resolution Must be willing to work in a team oriented and dynamic environment.
