Accountant - Kaunas Part-time role. Local ownership. International colleagues. Join our Kaunas team We usually respond within a week Do you know Lithuanian accounting, payroll and tax reporting – and would you like to own the local finance setup in a flexible part-time role of approx. 3 days per week? Why this role exists Copenhagen Merchants is looking for an Accountant to support our Kaunas office and help bring more of the local accounting work in-house. You’ll handle day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, tax reporting and statutory filings for our Lithuanian entity – while working closely with Group Finance in Copenhagen. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys accuracy, structure and responsibility. Not “finance from a distance” – but local accounting that actually keeps the office running. What you’ll be doing Your main tasks will include: Daily bookkeeping, supplier invoices, expenses, payments and bank reconciliations Local cash flow overview, banking administration and payment preparation Payroll administration, salary-related reporting, VAT, tax and statutory filings in Lithuania Intercompany invoicing and reconciliations related to the Kaunas entity Travel expenses, employee reimbursements and Acubiz handling Monthly close, including accruals, balance sheet review and P&L / balance sheet reporting to Group Finance Coordination with auditors, banks, local authorities and external accounting partners Annual audit preparation and accounting documentation Compliance with Lithuanian accounting, payroll and tax regulations Ongoing improvement of local accounting processes and support for bringing more accounting tasks in-house System-related finance requests in coordination with Group Finance You’ll be locally anchored in Kaunas – but with regular contact to colleagues in Copenhagen. Who you are You are a reliable and structured accountant with experience from a Lithuanian accounting role. We imagine you bring: Experience with bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and tax reporting Good understanding of Lithuanian accounting standards and local compliance requirements Experience with month-end close, reconciliations and statutory reporting Ability to work independently in a smaller office setup Good Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems Fluent Lithuanian and professional working English Relevant education within accounting, finance or bookkeeping Experience with Microsoft D365FO, expense management systems like Acubiz, intercompany transactions or international companies is a plus – but not a must. Most importantly: you are responsible, detail-oriented and pragmatic. You keep things in order – without making things more complicated than they need to be.
