Accountant (UK Experience Required)

About the role We are looking for a hands-on Accountant with a strong accounting practice background. This role would suit someone who is used to managing a portfolio of clients in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership of the monthly accounting cycle across multiple entities. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable handling month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, preparing management accounts, completing VAT and PAYE submissions, and drafting financial statements. Key responsibilities Manage a portfolio of clients in a deadline-driven environment Process bank transactions and post journals as required Prepare monthly management accounts Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions Draft financial statements and maintain supporting schedules Pull supporting information from relevant systems and portals to support accounting work Work across multiple client deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality What we are looking for Previous experience in an accounting practice Strong hands-on accounting experience across multiple clients or entities Exposure to management accounts, VAT and PAYE, reconciliations, and financial statement drafting Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines Strong attention to detail and a proactive working style SAIPA or CIMA pathway exposure would be advantageous Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Excel, CaseWare, or CCH would be beneficial What would make someone a strong fit Experience managing a portfolio of clients Confidence working independently while still collaborating with a wider team Strong ownership of output from processing through to reporting A practical, solutions-focused approach to accounting work
