Schneider Electric Federal is a global leader in energy management and automation, delivering secure, resilient, and innovative solutions that help power a future-ready U.S. Government. As the world's leading Energy Service Company and Microgrid Integrator, we modernize critical infrastructure, strengthen national security, and advance energy independence while delivering measurable cost savings. Our digital energy solutions, software, and services support mission readiness across classified and unclassified federal programs.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Accounting Analyst. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations for SE Federal’s U.S. Federal Government business, with a focus on daily banking and cash activity and multi-state sales and use tax reporting. Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you will play a hands-on role in the month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations, and you will partner closely with project managers, finance leaders, and intercompany and external support services to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting. You will also assist with the external audit review by preparing supporting schedules and documentation and responding to auditor requests accurately and on time

What You'll Do

  • Daily Banking & Cash: Review and record daily bank activity, including ACH, wire, and lockbox receipts; apply customer cash; post bank clearing entries; and prepare bank reconciliations in SAP S/4HANA.
  • Sales & Use Tax: Prepare and file monthly and periodic sales and use tax returns across multiple states, accrue use tax on vendor purchases, maintain exemption certificates, and support tax accrual reconciliations.
  • Month-End Close: Prepare and post journal entries and accruals, perform balance sheet account reconciliations, and research and explain account fluctuations within close deadlines.
  • AP / AR Support: Assist with GR/IR and AP clearing, vendor payment support, customer remittance research, and resolution of unapplied cash and open items.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Execute assigned key internal controls in line with Schneider Electric policies, segregation-of-duties requirements, and the chart of authority, maintaining clear, audit-ready documentation.
  • Audit Support: Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors and internal reviews, and respond to requests accurately and on time.
  • Business Partnership: Work with project managers, finance leaders, and intercompany and external support services to resolve billing, cost, and cash questions, and contribute to process improvement and standardization initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience; a construction industry or government contracting background is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with sales and use tax reporting and filing, ideally across multiple states.
  • Experience processing and reconciling daily banking activity, including cash receipts, ACH, and wire transactions.
  • Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition (ASC 606, revenue recognized over time) and contract asset/liability concepts.
  • Exposure to an ERP system (SAP S/4HANA preferred) and intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage recurring deadlines in a fast-paced close environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Commitment to Schneider Electric Federal’s ethics and compliance standards and to safeguarding sensitive and controlled government information.
  • Ability to work hybrid at our Columbia, MD office.

Additional Requirements

  • S. Citizenship required
