Overview

We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Accounting Analyst to join our Finance Shared Services organization in Salt Lake City. As an Accounting Analyst within Financial Inventory Management, you'll report directly to the Accounting Manager in a hybrid work environment. This role takes ownership of month-end close activities, researching financial discrepancies, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and building strong cross-functional partnerships. This role is ideal for a collaborative accountant looking to combine financial discipline with operational business partnering in a corporate environment.

Responsibilities

Operational Accounting Close:

  • Own day-to-day management accounting processes, including month-end/fiscal close activities, preparing journal entries, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Execute, monitor, and maintain key financial and accounting controls to ensure compliance with internal corporate policies.

Discrepancy Analysis & Issue Resolution:

  • Research, analyze, and resolve complex financial discrepancies, performing thorough root-cause analysis to implement sustainable process improvements.

  • Identify, resolve, and escalate critical accounting issues to management when appropriate.

Process Optimization & Projects:

  • Lead or support specific accounting projects, process improvements, and business initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Partner with IT regarding system enhancements, software implementations, and technical issue resolution to ensure seamless policy compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional business partners across the company, including Finance, Tax, Audit, Financial Planning, Merchandise Planning & Allocation, and Supply Chain.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments and multiple levels of management, providing clear accounting guidance and support.

Reporting, Metrics & Forecasting:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial reporting, operational metrics, and analysis templates to assist leadership decision-making.

Team Development:

  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members and assist in the onboarding of new associates on core accounting tools and processes.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of professional accounting, Accounts Payable, corporate finance, or related operational experience is preferred.

Accounting Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, financial reporting procedures, and account reconciliation processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data formatting).

  • Experience creating, maintaining, or updating data queries and financial reporting tools.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with cross-functional teams and various levels of management.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; highly detailed and organized with strong time-management skills.

Pay Range

USD $48,000.00 - USD $63,000.00 /Yr.
