Show job description

We're aiming to bring a hands-on Accounting & Tax Manager into our Brazil-based team, someone capable of reinforcing EPAM's local controllership efforts and supporting our Brazilian legal entities through a phase defined by meaningful changes in accounting, tax, and operational standards. Reporting to the Country Controller, this person acts as the main technical resource for accounting and tax topics throughout Brazil, managing statutory accounting duties, tax obligations, audit coordination, vendor oversight, and tax reform projects, while continuing to be hands-on with granular accounting, reconciliation, and statutory/tax work whenever necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Sustain a functioning accounting infrastructure along with the internal controls needed to stay compliant with BR GAAP/CPC, US-GAAP, and EPAM's company-wide policies
  • Handle monthly closing procedures, trial balance checks, journal entry processing, and balance sheet reconciliations, working in tandem with the Country Controller to resolve issues quickly
  • Own the drafting, evaluation, and critical review of detailed accounting and tax analysis as needed, given that this role calls for genuine technical involvement beyond simple vendor supervision
  • Help prepare statutory financial statements, manage both statutory and tax audit processes, and keep controls in line with SOX expectations
  • Keep deliverables moving efficiently across Global SSC teams, external local accounting/tax vendors, auditors, and tax advisory partners
  • Head up the review and scrutiny of Brazil's tax compliance obligations for a services-based business, covering IRPJ, CSLL, ISS, PIS, COFINS, and other connected secondary duties
  • Support progress on Brazil's tax reform readiness initiative, dealing with CBS/IBS implications, invoice format adjustments, tax code oversight, vendor verification, input credit monitoring, and audit trail maintenance
  • Keep tabs on and enforce quality expectations for outsourced accounting and tax compliance functions, staying prepared to take over or rebuild these processes in-house if conditions shift down the road
  • Contribute to bridging statutory data with US-GAAP, assist with local management reporting, address FP&A requests, reconcile payroll-connected accounts, and carry out additional controllership evaluations
  • Take part in integration work, entity simplification projects, and ongoing process improvement efforts across Brazil

Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a similar discipline, with preference given to Accounting/Ciências Contábeis
  • Active CRC registration, which is either a firm requirement or strongly anticipated
  • Approximately five or more years of relevant experience across accounting, controllership, and/or tax functions in Brazil, ideally built within a multinational corporation, Big 4 firm, outsourcing company, or shared-services setup
  • Solid understanding of BR GAAP/CPC standards along with working knowledge of IFRS and/or US-GAAP reporting methods
  • In-depth familiarity with Brazilian tax legislation, particularly IRPJ, CSLL, ISS, PIS, and COFINS as applicable to service-based industries
  • Practical experience with Brazil's digital tax and statutory systems, including ECD, ECF, DCTFWeb, EFD-Contribuições, EFD-Reinf, NFS-e, eSocial-connected financial information, CND, and e-CAC monitoring
  • Background evaluating tax computations, statutory reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation prepared by outside vendors
  • Hands-on exposure to ERP tools, SAP being the preferred option, with extra value placed on knowledge of JDE, Brazilian localization capabilities, NFS-e connections, or tax engine systems
  • High-level Excel ability, reliable reconciliation experience, and the knack for explaining complicated accounting/tax issues in plain terms
  • Professional-level English communication skills to engage regularly with global stakeholders, with Spanish seen as a plus

Nice to have

  • Completion of a postgraduate qualification, MBA, or specialized training in Tax, Controllership, IFRS, or Finance
  • Hands-on background participating in Brazil's tax reform readiness activities, including CBS/IBS implementation or process redesign
  • Professional experience earned at technology, consulting, or professional-services organizations
  • Direct experience handling statutory and tax audits from a legal-entity point of view
  • Familiarity with SOX control requirements and experience operating within US-listed multinational company contexts

We offer

  • International projects with top brands
  • Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers
  • Healthcare benefits
  • Employee financial programs
  • Paid time off and sick leave
  • Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses
  • Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses
  • Global career opportunities
  • Volunteer and community involvement opportunities
  • EPAM Employee Groups
  • Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
