Overview
Are you a corporate accounting manager, assistant controller, accounting systems manager, finance transformation manager, or post-acquisition integration leader who wants broader impact than a traditional close-focused role, but does not want to leave accounting behind? Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Accounting Manager, Integration & Accounting Transformation to join or growing team.
The Accounting Manager, Integration & Accounting Transformation combines strong technical accounting judgment with project leadership and business systems fluency. The role partners with acquired-company leaders and colleagues across Corporate Accounting, Finance, Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, Treasury, Tax, and other functions to align accounting policies, processes, systems, controls, and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will translate complex accounting and operational needs into practical plans, lead data and process transitions, and remain engaged in core accounting and continuous-improvement work beyond individual integrations.
This is a multifaceted accounting role for someone who values variety and thrives on bringing clarity and structure to newly acquired businesses—and leaving their fingerprints on the results. It is designed for an accomplished accountant who enjoys solving complex problems, improving systems and processes, and helping newly acquired teams succeed. You will lead accounting and finance integration work from diligence through stabilization while also contributing to corporate accounting, close and reporting improvement, internal controls, and broader finance transformation initiatives. The mix of work will evolve with the acquisition pipeline, giving you both ownership of the accounting and finance aspect of integrations and meaningful opportunities to strengthen the ongoing accounting organization.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement; however, candidates must be able to work a minimum of three days per week in our Denver, CO office to support collaboration and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead accounting integration workstreams for acquisitions, including diligence support, discovery, gap assessment, planning, execution, cutover, and post-close stabilization.
- Own detailed integration plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issue logs, decisions, and leadership updates across multiple concurrent projects.
- Conduct accounting and process walkthroughs to understand the acquired business’s financial operations, systems, controls, reporting, and resource needs.
- Lead or coordinate the transition of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, payroll accounting, revenue recognition, project accounting, and financial reporting processes.
- Oversee chart-of-accounts mapping, historical data conversion, opening balance sheet preparation, account reconciliations, and validation of migrated financial information.
- Apply sound U.S. GAAP and close-process knowledge to resolve accounting issues, strengthen reconciliations, and support accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting on selected close, reporting, policy, control, and process-improvement initiatives, particularly between active integration phases.
- Help integrate acquired entities into ERP, expense, banking, billing, reporting, and related financial systems; translate accounting requirements for technical and implementation teams.
- Coordinate cutover readiness, including master data, user access, vendor and customer setup, banking and remittance changes, reporting, training, and support plans.
- Build trusted relationships with acquired-company teams, facilitate cross-functional decisions, and communicate clearly through periods of change.
- Develop and continuously improve scalable playbooks, templates, checklists, standard operating procedures, controls, and handoff practices.
- Coach accounting team members and acquired-company personnel, share knowledge, and support adoption of new processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful ownership of the financial close, reconciliations, reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research, assess, and communicate accounting conclusions.
- Experience leading an accounting integration, ERP implementation, financial-system migration, business transformation, or similarly complex cross-functional initiative.
- Experience in professional services, engineering, consulting, construction, government contracting, or another project-based environment.
- Experience with BST, Deltek Vision, Deltek Vantagepoint, Costpoint, or a comparable project-based ERP.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships and bring a constructive, solutions-oriented approach to complex integration and accounting challenges.
- Strong Excel skills and demonstrated ability to learn and use ERP, AI, reporting, workflow, and data tools.
- Ability to organize complex work, manage dependencies and risk, influence across functions, and deliver against critical deadlines.
- Clear communication, strong facilitation skills, sound judgment, curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative approach.
- Ability to travel as needed for acquisition integrations and business requirements.
- People leadership, coaching, or change-management experience.
- CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred.
- Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)/Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) experience preferred.
- Experience with Power Query, Power BI, workflow automation, data-conversion tools, or other finance technology preferred.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $100,000 to $140,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
