About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career finance professional seeking hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting and finance activities.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, gaining exposure to accounts payable, billing and credit control. The role offers significant scope for learning and development within a growing organisation.

You will join a small but busy finance team supporting a growing international healthcare education and medical communications business. The finance function is responsible for multiple legal entities and bank accounts, processing supplier invoices, customer billing, payment runs, credit control and financial reporting across several jurisdictions.

You will work with colleagues across Sales, Operations, Client Services and Leadership, using systems including Xero, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Tipalti to support day-to-day finance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Manage employee expense claims and company card transactions
  • Maintain supplier account records and resolve invoice queries
  • Support month-end accounts payable activities

Payments and Treasury

  • Prepare supplier and employee payment runs for approval
  • Ensure payments are processed accurately and on time

Bank Reconciliations

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items
  • Support month-end and year-end bank balance sheet reconciliations

Accounts Receivable

  • Raise customer invoices accurately and in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Monitor billing schedules and ensure timely invoicing
  • Support month-end accounts receivable activities

Credit Control

  • Monitor debtor balances and outstanding invoices
  • Proactively follow up overdue payments and resolve customer queries
  • Support aged debt reporting
  • Escalate issues where appropriate to ensure timely resolution

General Finance Support

  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Support process improvement initiatives across the finance function
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Director and wider finance team

About You

Essential

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics, an AAT qualification, or relevant practical experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Proactive and eager to learn
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across the business
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a finance, accounting or administrative role
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Dynamics 365 and Tipalti
