Our client is an established Australian company operating in the home improvement and building solutions industry, specializing in innovative daylighting and ventilation products for residential and commercial spaces.
With a strong reputation built over several decades, the company supports a national network of distribution partners while also operating its own retail and installation arm. As the business continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their financial and operational support functions.
About the Role:
The Accounts Officer / Sales Support role is primarily responsible for managing the end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting functions for the company’s retail and installation operations. The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring that all transactions are properly reconciled and recorded.
In addition to the accounting responsibilities, the role will also provide light customer support and internal sales assistance, including conducting follow-up calls with customers and assisting with incoming enquiries when required.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, organisation, and accountability, with the opportunity to grow as the business expands and operational processes evolve.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
• Perform end-to-end bookkeeping functions
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue accounts / debtors
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards
• Support payroll processing where required
• Assist with BAS preparation and liaise with external accountants
• Ensure financial documentation is accurate, organised, and up to date
2. Systems & Financial Reporting
• Maintain financial data within Xero accounting software
• Develop and maintain system reports to support operational visibility
• Assist in aligning the sales process between operational systems and accounting platforms
• Review financial data and identify discrepancies where required
3. Sales Support & Customer Follow-ups
• Conduct follow-up calls with customers who have received quotations
• Handle overflow incoming calls when the local team is unavailable
• Record notes and customer details and escalate enquiries to the appropriate team member
• Provide friendly and professional communication with customers
4. Administrative & Process Support
• Maintain organised financial and operational documentation
• Support the improvement of internal accounting and reporting processes
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations
Requirements
Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience in an accounts, bookkeeping, or finance support role
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
- Experience with Xero accounting software (required)
- Familiarity with Australian accounting standards and processes
- Experience supporting small business accounting operations preferred
- Experience with CRM systems or service management platforms is advantageous
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
Desirable:
• Certificate IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping (preferred)
• BAS Agent registration is advantageous but not essential
