Are you passionate about accounting and looking for a role where your expertise truly makes an impact? Would you like to be part of a global company that puts both business and people at the heart of everything it does? At Hempel, we work together to shape our future and support each other's growth every step of the way. We are looking for an AP Accountant who will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of PO and non-PO invoices, reviewing vendor statements and payment reminders, and supporting daily finance operations with professional accounting expertise. If you're eager to grow your career in a collaborative, international environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Are You Ready to Achieve Your Full Potential?

As an AP Accountant at Hempel, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of our accounts payable processes. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will manage invoice processing, support month-end activities, resolve discrepancies, and help maintain strong relationships with vendors. This is an opportunity to combine your accounting expertise with a proactive, problem-solving mindset while contributing to continuous process improvements in a global finance environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Process and post PO and non-PO invoices in line with Hempel policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
  • Follow up on invoice approvals and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth workflow processing.
  • Review the accuracy of postings, including cost centers, business units, and VAT codes, before month-end close.
  • Monitor vendor statements and payment reminders, proactively identifying and resolving outstanding issues.
  • Support timely invoice approvals and respond to queries from internal departments and external vendors.
  • Perform monthly AP to GL reconciliations, accrual postings, and currency revaluations.
  • Review open-vendor account transactions on a regular basis, liaise with suppliers, and take appropriate actions to clear outstanding balances.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis to support business and finance needs.
  • Maintain and update process documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Execute key financial controls and contribute to a strong control environment.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and insights.
  • Participate in finance and process improvement projects assigned by management.
  • Test new ERP system releases (UAT) and contribute to successful system enhancements and implementations

Do You Want to Be Part of a Global Team Where Collaboration Drives Success?

We believe great results come from strong partnerships, open communication, and a willingness to support one another. To thrive in this role, you should be comfortable working with colleagues across functions and geographies, taking ownership of your responsibilities while maintaining a collaborative mindset. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving problems, building positive relationships, and continuously improving the way work gets done.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Min. 1 year of professional experience in Accounts Payable, Accounting, Finance or a related area,
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes,
  • Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail,
  • Experience working with ERP systems,
  • SAP knowledge will be considered an advantage,
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data,
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Why Join Hempel?

This is more than a traditional AP role. You'll own the Accounts Payable process for a dedicated country, gain exposure to month-end activities, and have opportunities to contribute to projects and process improvements. Working in a supportive international team, you'll develop a broader accounting skill set while making a real impact on how we work.

What we offer

  • Ownership of the end-to-end AP process for a dedicated country,
  • Exposure to month-end closing, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting activities,
