About the Opportunity

MezTal is looking for a Accountant Accounts Payable Specialist to join the finance team of one of our U.S.-based clients in the Senior Living industry.

This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in Accounts Payable, payment operations, and financial reconciliations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with U.S.-based teams, managing financial transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting accurate and timely financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full Accounts Payable cycle, from invoice receipt and verification through payment processing and reconciliation.
• Review, validate, and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures.
• Perform two-way and three-way matching, including purchase orders and receiving documentation.
• Prepare and coordinate vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
• Reconcile vendor statements, AP balances, and payment transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Support month-end closing activities, including AP accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate vendor records and assist with vendor inquiries and payment-related issues.
• Collaborate with U.S.-based accounting, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth financial processes.
• Support internal controls, audits, and compliance with company accounting policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve Accounts Payable processes, accuracy, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, preferably in a senior or accounting-focused role.
• Hands-on experience managing the full Accounts Payable cycle.
• Experience supporting U.S. operations or working with international companies.
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, payment operations, vendor reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles, including accruals, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Professional English proficiency, both written and spoken.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting systems or ERP platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must reside in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and be available to work in a hybrid environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.
• Familiarity with U.S. accounting practices and US GAAP.
• Experience with ACH payments, wire transfers, and payment runs.
• Knowledge of SOX controls, audit support, and financial compliance.
• Previous experience in high-volume Accounts Payable environments.
• Experience working with multiple entities, locations, or business units.
