National Interstate is looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join their team. This individual will work a hybrid schedule out of the Richfield office.


National Interstate’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing and maintaining actuarial models to support risk assessment and pricing strategies.
  • Analyzes datasets to identify trends and provide preliminary insights to support decision-making.
  • Prepares clear and concise actuarial reports, focusing on accuracy and effective communication.
  • Assists with presentations of actuarial concepts and results to non-technical audiences, collaborating with senior team members.
  • Collaborates with underwriting, finance, and product development teams to provide actuarial support.
  • Participates in cross-functional projects and contributes foundational actuarial knowledge.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards while learning key frameworks and practices.
  • May identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.

Experience: Generally, a minimum of 6 months of actuarial experience. Has passed 1 or more exams toward Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).

Scope of Job/Qualifications: Works on assignments of low to moderate technical complexity and variety. Proficient in various actuarial techniques and develops the capability to determine the most suitable method for each specific situation. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions. Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments. Develops and maintains knowledge of changes in regulations and industry trends and participates in professional development activities to stay current with actuarial best practices. To advance within the actuary track, continued eligibility in the Actuarial Student Program and ongoing progress toward Fellowship are expected.
