Job Description:
The Financial Regulatory Services division of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a Actuarial Analyst. This team member will analyze confidential group annuity and life insurance mortality data, applying actuarial expertise and data science tools to validate submissions and identify trends, benchmarks, and outliers. They will communicate key findings through reports and presentations. This is a full-time position with will allow a person to work remotely within the united states or hybrid out of the NAIC Kansas City, Mo office.
Responsibilities Include
- Collects, processes, and maintains confidential group annuity and life insurance mortality experience data filings.
- Develops expertise in relevant Valuation Manual requirements, including VM-50 and VM-51.
- Supports data structure, validation, and governance efforts, including data dictionaries, submission review rules, confidentiality, and procedure documentation.
- Uses analytical tools, data visualization, trend analysis, and data science methods to evaluate company submissions and aggregated data.
- Identifies and communicates statistical results, benchmarks, outliers, and key findings through reports, presentations, and email communications.
- Supports confidential company SharePoint sites.
- Completes ad-hoc projects in a timely manner.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar degree from an accredited college or university and prior actuarial experience gained through one or more actuarial internships.
- Passed at least one actuarial exam through the Society of Actuaries.
Preferred Experience
- Basic knowledge of life insurance, actuarial concepts, and regulatory requirements for life insurance.
- Experience in two or more of the following areas are preferred: pension risk transfer annuities, accelerated underwriting, mortality experience studies, life or annuity valuation, life or annuity pricing, predictive analytics, and data visualizations. Knowledge of VM-50 and VM-51 requirements for life insurance.
Systems & Technology Requirements
Microsoft Office Suite, Tableau, SQL, and statistical software (e.g., SAS, R).
Compensation
$93,263 - $96,600, commensurate with education and experience.
