Adult and Community Learning Skills Coach
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 Hours: Full time Delivery options: Online/Hybrid, Liverpool, or South Yorkshire
LT Selection is recruiting for an adult-learning provider. You will help adults aged 19 and over build skills, confidence and routes into work or further learning through Adult Skills Fund programmes. Courses can run from around 15 days to 20 weeks.
Delivery options
Online/Hybrid: Online and hybrid delivery. The office base, attendance pattern and travel requirements need to be confirmed. This should not be treated as a fully remote role.
Liverpool: Face-to-face, community-based provision in the Liverpool City Region, funded through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
South Yorkshire: Face-to-face delivery across community venues under South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority ASF provision. Published curriculum areas include autism awareness, mental health, team leading, business administration and customer service. This variant reports to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
• Plan learning around initial assessment, individual goals and learners’ starting points.
• Teach and assess accredited and non-accredited provision through group learning and individual support.
• Adapt sessions for adults facing barriers such as unemployment, low confidence, SEND or mental-health challenges.
• Build English, maths, digital and employability skills into appropriate learning activities.
• Monitor attendance, participation and progress; act early when a learner needs additional support.
• Maintain accurate assessment evidence, reviews and learner records using an ePortfolio.
• Give impartial careers information, advice and guidance and record progression destinations.
• Meet the relevant funding, awarding-body and quality requirements; contribute to quality improvement and inspection preparation.
• Follow safeguarding, Prevent and health-and-safety procedures and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Keep subject knowledge and teaching practice current through continuing professional development.
Experience and skills
• Practical experience of adult or community learning and of teaching and assessing qualifications.
• Knowledge of ASF or AEB-funded delivery and adult-learning quality expectations.
• Experience supporting adults with varied learning needs and barriers.
• Confidence with ePortfolios and digital tools.
• Clear communication, reliable record-keeping and effective workload management.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding, equality and learner wellbeing.
For South Yorkshire, teaching qualifications such as AET/PTLLS or equivalent, assessing qualifications such as TAQA or equivalent, and experience in wellbeing, leadership or business-related provision are desirable. The source also welcomes willingness to achieve the qualifications. Qualification requirements for the other delivery options will be confirmed.
Package
The advertised package includes 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, a birthday day off and an additional Christmas-shopping day. Other benefits and eligibility conditions will be confirmed during recruitment.
Safer recruitment
Appointment is subject to the employer’s safer-recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Apply through LT Selection, stating your preferred delivery option and relevant adult-learning experience.
