Advanced Software Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to take our products to the next level. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and be able to work independently to design, develop, and implement new features and functionality. They will also be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing code. Additionally, they will be responsible for mentoring and training junior software engineers. The most successful candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for software engineering and a willingness to learn new technologies. Duties & Responsibilities Engage with the development team in active problem solving to identify technical roadblocks and recommend solutions that can improve the direction of our products Help improve software engineering practices across the development team and be an advocate of a culture of quality code development including writing/maintaining technical documentation Take technical responsibility for features or subsystems of our products, working with minimal supervision to deliver high-quality and stable software Understand testing & integration methodologies (continuous integration, continuous delivery, unit vs. integration tests). Be able to write and maintain your own automated tests Handle short term and long term projects concurrently and adjust on-the-fly as priorities change Handle rapidly changing requirements without losing sight of the “big picture” Balance the need for speed and stability – we move fast, but we don’t sacrifice quality Maintain a sense of urgency and drive issues to closure Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with both technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization Proactively share knowledge with others on the team Take initiative to learn new technologies and keep up-to-date with industry trends Help mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field 5+ years professional experience as a software engineer Expertise in Java, C++, or other programming languages Experience with Agile development methodology Strong problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Skills and Qualifications Master’s degree in computer science or related field 7+ years professional experience as a software engineer Experience leading a team of engineers Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure Knowledge of DevOps practices
