The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is a national nonprofit organization working to prevent sexual abuse and exploitation mass scale by eliminating institutional behaviors & cultural norms that enable it. Through advocacy, education, research, communications, and strategic partnerships, NCOSE works to advance policies, practices, and cultural change that protect human dignity and promote healthier communities.
The NCOSE Parent Center is a key part of this work, equipping parents and caregivers with practical resources, education, and support to help children navigate an increasingly sexualized and digital world. The Parent Center helps families understand emerging risks, have meaningful conversations with children, and take informed action to create safer environments for young people.
Position Overview
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is seeking an accomplished, entrepreneurial fundraising leader to help significantly expand and diversify the financial resources supporting our mission.
This is a hands-on fundraising and relationship-development position for someone who knows how to build a donor pipeline, open new doors, develop relationships, make the ask, secure gifts, pursue grants, create partnerships, and generate measurable revenue.
The successful candidate will be responsible for both strengthening NCOSE's existing donor relationships and developing entirely new sources of support.
We are particularly interested in someone who can help NCOSE substantially expand beyond traditional fundraising channels by developing grassroots donors, digital giving, major gifts, foundation and government grants, strategic partnerships, and new donor networks.
This is an opportunity for a proven fundraiser to help build the next generation of NCOSE's advancement program.
Key Responsibilities
The person selected for this role will lead and personally participate in fundraising efforts across multiple channels, including:
- Grassroots Fundraising: Develop NCOSE's existing network of supporters, advocates, partners, email subscribers, social followers, churches, schools, families, and allied organizations into a larger and more engaged donor community.
- New Donor Acquisition: Identify and cultivate individuals and networks NCOSE has not historically reached, creating a consistent pipeline of new prospective donors.
- Digital Fundraising: Build strategies that increase giving through NCOSE's website, email, social media, peer-to-peer campaigns, digital content, and other online channels.
- Recurring Giving: Develop and grow monthly and recurring giving programs that create sustainable and predictable revenue.
- Major Gifts: Personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-net-worth individuals and other major-gift prospects. The successful candidate must be comfortable developing relationships and directly asking for significant financial support.
- Foundation Fundraising: Research and cultivate private, family, and corporate foundations; develop relationships with foundation leadership; prepare proposals; write grants; manage submissions; and pursue renewals.
- Government Grants: Identify and pursue appropriate federal and other government funding opportunities. Experience navigating the Washington, D.C. funding environment, federal agencies, government grant programs, and related compliance requirements is highly valued.
- Strategic Partnerships: Develop relationships with corporations, foundations, philanthropic networks, churches, schools, technology companies, business leaders, family offices, and other organizations that can expand NCOSE's reach and financial support.
- Fundraising Events: Develop and execute fundraising and donor-cultivation events that produce measurable revenue, new donor relationships, and long-term fundraising opportunities.
- Donor Stewardship: Strengthen relationships with existing donors, improve retention, re-engage lapsed donors, identify opportunities to increase giving, and ensure supporters understand the impact of their investment.
- Board & Leadership Engagement: Work closely with NCOSE leadership and Board members to identify prospects, secure introductions, cultivate relationships, and participate in donor meetings and solicitations.
- Fundraising Systems: Build and maintain disciplined systems for CRM management, prospect tracking, moves management, grant pipelines, donor segmentation, forecasting, stewardship, and fundraising analytics.
We are looking for a builder and producer, not simply someone who has managed a development department.
The strongest candidates will have a demonstrated record of personally producing fundraising results and should be able to discuss specific examples of:
- Revenue they have personally helped raise.
- Major gifts they have cultivated and secured.
- New donors and donor networks they have developed.
- Fundraising programs or pipelines they have built.
- Grassroots or digital fundraising programs they have grown.
- Foundation grants they have secured.
- Government grants they have pursued or secured.
- Strategic partnerships they have developed.
- Fundraising events they have successfully executed.
- Donor retention, recurring giving, or lapsed-donor programs they have improved.
Experience working within Washington, D.C. philanthropic, foundation, nonprofit, corporate, or government networks is strongly preferred.
Ideal Candidate
The right person will be highly relational, entrepreneurial, persistent, organized, creative, technologically capable, and accountable for results.
They should be comfortable moving between very different fundraising environments—from developing a digital campaign designed to acquire hundreds of grassroots donors to sitting across the table from a high-net-worth individual and asking for a transformational gift. They must be an excellent communicator who can translate NCOSE's work into a compelling case for financial support. Most importantly, this person must be willing to personally fundraise.
This is not a role where the primary responsibility is developing strategy for others to execute. The successful candidate will be expected to develop strategy and execute it.
Qualifications
Competitive candidates will generally bring significant professional fundraising, advancement, philanthropy, business development, or strategic partnership experience, including demonstrated success in several of the following areas:
- Major gifts and high-net-worth fundraising
- Grassroots fundraising and donor acquisition
- Digital and social media fundraising
- Monthly and recurring giving
- Foundation fundraising and grant writing
- Federal or government grants
- Strategic partnerships
- Fundraising events
- Donor cultivation and stewardship
- CRM and fundraising analytics
- Board engagement
- Building or substantially growing a fundraising program
While nonprofit experience is valuable, demonstrated results are more important to us than a particular title, career path, or number of years in a specific role.
Success in the Role will include
Success in this position will be measured by results, including:
A growing pipeline of qualified prospective donors; increased acquisition of new grassroots donors; stronger digital and recurring giving; increased engagement with major-gift prospects; new high-net-worth donor relationships; an expanded foundation and grant pipeline; appropriate government funding opportunities; new strategic partnerships; stronger donor retention and reactivation; and, ultimately, significant new revenue supporting NCOSE's mission.
The successful candidate will be expected to move quickly—pursuing near-term fundraising opportunities while simultaneously building the relationships, systems, and donor pipeline necessary for sustainable long-term growth.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
- This is a hybrid position in the DC Office. Individuals will be required to sit for long periods, stand, or walk as needed. Also, light lifting - up to 15 pounds.
- For remote positions, the individual must work in a quiet space - no background noise - and have the camera turned on during all calls and meetings.
- Local travel to meetings, including walking or taking an uber or cab. Occasional out of town travel may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience with a range of $– $. Benefits include generous medical, dental, vision insurance, FSA, 401K, paid time off, and EAP.
