Joining Aurora’s Origination team, you will develop the analysis that underpins how energy is bought and sold across Europe. You will support renewable energy and BESS developers, IPPs, investors and asset owners commercialising assets, and corporate and industrial buyers procuring energy and managing price risk, quantifying what contract structures are worth, how risk is shared between the parties, and what each option means for the client’s decision. The successful applicant will combine commercial curiosity with sound analytical ability, an organised approach to managing work, and a track record of high performance in team-oriented environments. You will work in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, yet supportive environment. You will enjoy autonomy and real influence over commercial decisions in the energy sector. Working under the guidance of the Senior Associate and the Head of Origination, you will take on major strategic issues and grow into an industry expert. The position is suitable for an early career energy professional with preferably 2 years of relevant work experience. The exact entry position will be dependent on experience and educational level. Key Responsibilities As an Analyst in the Origination team, you will: Develop timely and rigorous commercial analysis to support client decisions on offtake, procurement and route to market Value contract structures including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Corporate PPAs (CPPAs), tolling, floor and hybrid agreements, assessing capture prices, shape and profile risk, imbalance exposure and revenue certainty Assess how contract structures affect bankability and financing outcomes, including the revenue certainty, tenor and counterparty credit that lenders and investors require Support live transaction processes, including tender preparation, bid benchmarking and the evaluation of offers received Play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, synthesising conclusions into recommendations, and communicating findings to clients Help run client mandates day to day, maintaining project plans and timelines, coordinating inputs across teams, tracking deliverables and keeping clients informed on progress Work closely with our modelling and research teams, structuring commercial problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results Contribute to Aurora’s origination toolkit and to product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities Skills, Knowledge and Expertise A university degree in either: A quantitative, economics, engineering or finance subject, coupled with a keen interest in energy markets and policy developments A social science, environmental studies or a related field, coupled with an interest in quantitative analysis An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex commercial and quantitative information, and to turn it into practical recommendations Experience owning a workstream end to end, from planning and coordination through to delivery on deadline Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties An interest in how energy projects are contracted and financed, including the perspectives of developers, lenders, investors and corporate buyers Strong interest in European power markets and energy contracting; previous professional or academic exposure to PPAs, BESS or power trading is beneficial Proficiency in English is a requirement.
