C.Scale is a venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation whose life cycle assessment software helps more than 250 design firms measure and reduce the embodied carbon of their buildings. As AEC Engagement Lead, you will be on the front lines with our community. You will spend at least half your week meeting with architects and other building designers, onboarding project teams, training them on C.Scale and Tally, and troubleshooting analyses. You will also write help content, run community events, support marketing, and bring user feedback to our product team. We expect strong candidates to come from architecture or design practice, with hands-on LCA experience, teaching experience, and passion for helping others decarbonize the built environment.
The Role
The AEC Engagement Lead is a full-time, remote-first role reporting to the COO. At least half your week is meeting with architects, designers, engineers, and contractors: onboarding project teams, training firms on C.Scale and Tally, troubleshooting analyses, and working out how embodied carbon fits into a firm's standard design process.
The rest of your week goes to community events, marketing content, and carrying what you hear back to our product team. Few people at C.Scale will talk to as many users as you do, so your read on what works, what confuses people, and what they ask for next will move the roadmap.
This is an early hire on a small team. The co-founders work alongside you, feedback is direct, and the role will grow with the company. Remote-first work with founders in San Francisco and New York and key team members in Philadelphia, Boston, and elsewhere.
What You'll Own
- Train architects and designers on C.Scale and Tally through live sessions, recorded walkthroughs, and office hours.
- Work with sustainability leads to build C.Scale into how their firm runs projects: setup standards, templates, AIA 2030 Commitment reporting, and rollout plans that reach past the first champion.
- Answer questions and troubleshoot analyses, from model setup and material assignment to EPD selection and reading results.
- Write the help articles and short videos that stop the same question from coming up twice.
- Carry user feedback to the product team with enough context for engineers to act on it, and test new features with real users before release.
- Plan and run community events, including virtual events such as webinars and in-person events such as happy hours and receptions at industry conferences, with the follow-up that turns attendees into active users.
- Draft marketing copy, graphics, and social content for LinkedIn and help the COO manage our LinkedIn presence.
- Keep our CRM current with what you learn, and flag the firms that are stuck or ready to expand.
What We're Looking For
We expect most strong candidates to come from architecture or design practice, with a focus on sustainability work and LCA experience on real projects. We'll teach the rest.
Required
- Experience at an architecture or design firm, ideally as a sustainability coordinator or similar
- Hands-on life cycle assessment experience with Tally, EC3, or comparable tools, and working knowledge of EPDs and embodied carbon accounting
- Experience teaching others, whether through firm trainings, workshops, or mentoring
- You gain energy from talking with architects, designers, engineers, and contractors, and are comfortable spending at least half your week on Zoom calls with users
- Clear verbal communicator; excellent writing skills, for help articles, posts, and product feedback
- Passion for helping others decarbonize the built environment
- A bias towards continuous improvement, and a habit of using AI tools in daily work
Preferred
- Fluency in Revit, since Tally training depends on it
- Customer success, support, or training experience at a software company
- Exposure to interaction design, user research, or software development
- Experience organizing events, webinars, or conference programming
- Comfort with a CRM or product analytics
Why This Role
You'll shape how a new category of tool gets used inside design firms, and you'll hear first what designers need from it. You'll get to know personally hundreds of designers and industry leaders across North America. The buildings our customers are designing today will stand for 50 to 100 years, and your work affects how quickly we reduce building emissions , and how low-carbon materials get specified into them. C.Scale is a Public Benefit Corporation with a legally registered climate mission, and the team is small enough that your ideas shape our work and your output is visible. Flexibility that comes with remote work.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary depending on experience, plus equity at 0.25%. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, flexible PTO, 401k with matching, and a home office stipend. The role is remote-first, with travel to industry conferences around 10 times a year.
