Company Description Bench Africa has been a trusted name in African travel since 1969. With decades of experience, we’ve built a strong reputation and a team of dedicated Africa experts who are passionate about the continent and bring extensive knowledge to every journey we design.
Role Description Bench Africa is seeking an experienced Safari Specialist to join our team in a full-time, permanent role. The position is primarily remote, with flexibility to work from anywhere in Australia, and the backing of a small, knowledgeable, and supportive team.
With over 57 years of expertise, Bench Africa is one of Australia’s longest-standing Africa travel specialists. We focus solely on travel to the African continent and pride ourselves on delivering thoughtful, individualised journeys. Our team has deep firsthand knowledge of the destinations we sell, and we value genuine service, attention to detail and a love of Africa. Collaboration is at the heart of how we work. We share our knowledge openly, support one another through the busy periods and recognise the individual strengths each person brings to the team.
We are looking for someone who wants to become part of that and build their future with Bench Africa.
As a Safari Specialist at Bench Africa, you will be at the forefront of bringing extraordinary African journeys to life. You’ll manage enquiries and bookings from start to finish, preparing quotes, offering detailed advice and creating personalised itineraries designed around each traveller’s needs, expectations and budget.
As most of our business comes through the travel trade, you’ll become a trusted source of advice for our agent partners. You’ll help them navigate the complexities of Africa, recommend the right destinations and properties, and give them the confidence to present each journey to their clients. Building strong relationships through responsive, reliable and knowledgeable service will be central to the role.
This is an exciting and fast-moving sales position where you’ll manage multiple detailed enquiries, work closely with our partners across Africa and take responsibility for achieving sales targets.
First-hand knowledge of Africa and proven experience selling tailor-made travel are essential, along with excellent communication and strong commercial awareness. The role requires exceptional organisation, close attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of complex enquiries while maintaining accuracy and service. You’ll also need to learn new systems and products quickly, take responsibility for continually developing your knowledge and work effectively from home while remaining closely connected to the wider team.
