Lead the Future of Agribusiness Banking: A Rare Leadership Opportunity for a Seasoned Banker

Are you a highly respected Agribusiness Banker with deep credit expertise and a track record of building exceptional client relationships? Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge and inspiring the next generation of banking talent?

At Bendigo Bank, we are investing in our future leaders. We have created a unique Director-level opportunity for a high-performing banker to step into a pivotal leadership role located in Adelaide. This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to manage a complex, high-value portfolio while formally mentoring a team of emerging bankers, making a genuine impact on their careers and the success of our agribusiness division.

About the Opportunity

As our new Agribusiness Relationship Director, you will embrace a dual focus: continuing to excel in your craft with our most valued clients while shaping the future of our bank. You will lead a small, dedicated team of Agribusiness Managers, guide their growth and champion a culture of excellence.

This role is a genuine pathway for demonstrating your leadership capabilities in a substantive role that directly contributes to our Bendigo Bank 2030 strategy of enhancing the prosperity and sustainability of our regional communities.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Business Performance: Manage and grow a portfolio of large, complex agribusiness clients, providing meaningful insights and tailored financial solutions that deepen advocacy and drive regional growth.
  • Mentor and Lead: Formally lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 3-4 Agribusiness Managers. You will be responsible for their day-to-day performance, career development, and fostering a culture of success.
  • Champion Credit Excellence: Utilise your deep credit expertise to review and endorse lending proposals, exercise your Delegated Lending Authority (DLA), and uphold the highest standards of risk management across your team.
  • Cultivate Networks: Act as a key representative of Bendigo Bank in the regional community, expanding your professional network and building strong referral partnerships with industry stakeholders.
  • Embody Our Values: Role-model our corporate values and critical behaviours, challenging the status quo and inspiring your team to deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers and communities.

What You'll Bring:

  • Deep Agribusiness Acumen: Extensive experience in agribusiness or commercial banking, with a sophisticated understanding of agricultural markets, complex credit structures, and financial analysis.
  • Proven Relationship Management: A demonstrable track record of managing a high-value, complex client portfolio and a passion for delivering an outstanding customer experience.
  • A Passion for Leadership: A genuine desire to lead, mentor, and develop others. While formal management experience is valued, we are equally interested in individuals who have a proven aptitude for coaching and guiding their peers.
  • Strong Commercial Drive: A history of successful business development, a strategic mindset, and the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business or finance-related discipline.

Why Choose Bendigo Bank?

Forget being just another employee. Here, you’re part of a movement. We offer a career where you can achieve your professional goals without sacrificing your personal life.

  • A Legacy of Trust: Represent a prestigious brand with a 160-year history of putting the community first.
  • Meaningful Impact: See the direct results of your work as you help local families and businesses succeed.
  • A Culture That Cares: Join a diverse and inclusive team where you are valued for who you are and what you bring.
  • Flexibility That Works for You: We embrace hybrid work and offer flexible arrangements designed to fit your life.
  • Unleash Your Potential: Access world-class learning and development opportunities, including our corporate university, ‘BEN U,’ to fast-track your career.

Why Us?

At Bendigo Bank, our purpose is to feed into the prosperity of our customers and communities, not off them. This role is a direct reflection of that purpose. You will have the autonomy to make a real difference, backed by a supportive culture that values collaboration, growth, and making a positive impact.

If you are a seasoned banker ready to take the next step in your career and help shape the future of agribusiness banking, we want to hear from you.
