AI Production Unit · Cineflix Productions

A Hands-On Creative Role Making Finished AI Video for Real Productions

Cineflix has built a newly created AI Production Unit, a focused team rethinking how high-quality content is created at speed.

We’re looking for an AI Artist who can create video elements for broadcast and digital productions, owning each piece from first prompt to polished delivery. This is a hands-on creative role focused on AI asset and video generation, supported by 3D-to-AI workflows and working directly alongside the Creative Technologist and the other AI production Unit staff.

You might have come up as a VFX artist, animator, editor, a graphics artist for television or film, a director, a cinematographer. What matters most is that you’ve worked in professional production, you understand the pace and standards it demands, and you’ve spent serious time making AI content that holds up on screen.

The Role

Your focus is hands-on creation: generating assets, stills, and video, directing models toward the brief, and delivering finished materials ready for editorial. You’ll also help build and maintain the pipelines the AI Unit relies on as new models and tools arrive. You report to the Creative Technologist / AI Unit Lead.

This is a one-year contract position with the possibility of a full-time position following the initial one-year period. It is a hybrid position with regular in-office days at our Toronto office, so you must be able to work on site.

The salary range for this role is 90,000 - 110,000 CAD annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create final AI video elements for production
Generate assets, stills, and video sequences using Runway, Seedance, Kling, and open-source models (ComfUI, LTX, Wan), choosing the right model for each shot’s creative needs, budget, and timeline.
  • Own the creative process from prompt to polished delivery
Interpret briefs, iterate quickly with the Creative Technologist and producers, and carry each element through to a finished, delivery-ready file.
  • Use Visual storytelling Expertly

Understand camera, lighting, characters and scene action on an expert level to be able to translate written briefs into dynamic and cinematic shots and sequences.

  • Use 3D as a foundation for controlled generation
Build or adapt simple 3D scenes (Blender, Cinema 4D, Unreal, or similar) to guide camera movement, layout, and perspective where precision matters.
  • Build and maintain AI pipelines
Operate, extend, and troubleshoot workflows, integrate new models as they release, and keep the Unit’s tools reliable under production timelines.
  • Keep a series consistent
Hold characters, locations, and visual style steady across episodes using reference systems, prompt libraries, and LoRAs.
  • Run technical QC and prepare for handoff
Make sure finished elements meet technical delivery requirements (resolution, frame rate, codecs, colour) and prepare footage for downstream editorial teams.
  • Partner closely with the Creative Technologist
Align on approach per shot, including which model to use and when to regenerate or build from 3D, and contribute to efficient, repeatable workflows.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional production experience in film, television, commercials, or digital content. This could come from editing, broadcast or motion graphics, directing, cinematography, post-production, VFX, or animation. Any path works if it taught you the pace, timing, and technical standards of a professional production.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AI video generation and the ability to create professional, expert quality final video elements as demonstrated in a reel
  • Strong working knowledge of current video models and when to use each, including Runway, Seedance, and open-source models
  • An understanding of 3D-to-AI workflows (using depth, geometry, or camera data from 3D scenes to guide generation)
  • Experience building and maintaining AI pipelines and logical workflows using AI agents.
  • A strong eye for story, timing, composition, and continuity
  • Working knowledge of editing and finishing tools (Premiere, Resolve, After Effects, or similar)
  • Clear, reliable communication and ability to work under tight deadlines

We don’t expect mastery of every tool. Strong production instincts combined with real depth in AI video creation is what makes someone successful in this role.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using AI agents to automate or speed up production tasks
  • VFX, animation, or compositing experience
  • Experience training LoRAs for character or style consistency
  • Experience running local AI models or GPU environments

Production & Compliance Context

  • Contribute to documenting workflows and ensuring outputs are reproducible
  • Support required provenance and “substantial alteration” standards for AI-generated material
  • Work within broadcaster and legal requirements related to AI usage

Portfolio Expectations

  • A reel demonstrating AI-generated video work you created (required)
  • A short breakdown of one or two pieces explaining the models, tools, and workflow you used
  • Credits or examples from your professional production work
