The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

As Ahpra continues to explore the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, we are seeking a senior AI leader with strong architecture expertise to help shape our approach. This role will provide strategic leadership in the implementation of our AI governance framework, guide the design of our AI ecosystem, and influence the responsible use of AI across the organisation.

Operating at the intersection of technology, governance and business outcomes, the successful candidate will balance innovation with effective risk management, translate complex business challenges into practical AI-enabled solutions, and engage stakeholders across a diverse organisational landscape. Experience navigating emerging technologies within complex or regulated environments will enable them to provide trusted advice, mentor emerging capability, and help guide Ahpra's evolving AI strategy.

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in establishing the frameworks, guardrails and governance that support sustainable innovation, while helping realise the potential of AI in a thoughtful, responsible and outcome-focused way.
