AI First Ecommerce Finance and Growth Manager
Shenzhen, China | Remote | Full Time
Savvy Smart Deals
Make better ecommerce decisions using finance, data and AI.
Savvy Smart Deals sells consumer products through ecommerce, direct response offers and performance marketing. Our growth depends on choosing the right products, understanding true landed costs, pricing intelligently, allocating advertising spend profitably and managing inventory and cash.
We are hiring a commercially minded finance manager who can build reliable models, automate analysis using AI and tell leadership what to launch, scale, change or stop. You will work directly with our General Manager and teams in sourcing, marketing, finance and operations.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1. Product costing and sourcing decisions
Calculate true landed costs and SKU level contribution margin for every material product, bundle and offer. Include supplier pricing, minimum order quantities, packaging, foreign exchange, duties, freight, fulfillment, returns and payment costs. Quantify the impact of changes in suppliers, pricing, bundles and inventory commitments before decisions are made.
2. Ecommerce profitability and growth
Connect Shopify, marketing, affiliate, payment and fulfillment data to show actual profitability by product, store, offer and acquisition channel. Model customer acquisition cost, break even return on ad spend, average order value, upsells, customer lifetime value and payback. Where relevant, include recurring membership revenue, churn, cancellations, credits and rebill margins. Identify profitable growth opportunities and flag activity that generates revenue without adequate contribution.
3. Forecasting and capital allocation
Build and maintain a rolling 13 week cash forecast and a driver based 12 month revenue, contribution margin and profit forecast. Model realistic base, upside and downside scenarios using conversion, ad spend, unit economics, inventory, supplier lead times and retention. Compare projections against actual results, explain variances and recommend where to invest or reduce exposure.
4. AI enabled reporting and financial controls
Create automated, auditable daily and weekly reporting that reconciles sales, refunds, marketing spend, settlements, fulfillment and finance records. Use AI and practical tools such as spreadsheets, SQL, Python or automation platforms to reduce manual work, identify anomalies and accelerate analysis. Verify important AI outputs against source data. Reports must be accurate, transparent and usable by business leaders.
5. Commercial recommendations and accountability
Deliver a short weekly decision report covering revenue, contribution margin, cash, inventory risk, forecast performance and the three highest value actions. Work with the relevant owner to measure whether those actions increased profit or improved cash efficiency.
SUCCESS IN THE FIRST 90 DAYS
- By day 30: Establish reliable landed cost and contribution margin models and identify material gaps in financial and operational data.
- By day 60: Launch trusted recurring profitability reporting, a working 13 week cash forecast and a driver based operating forecast.
- By day 90: Recommend and measure specific actions covering product selection, supplier cost, pricing, marketing allocation and inventory commitments, with quantified profit and cash impact.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
- At least five years of hands on commercial finance, financial planning and analysis or comparable analytical experience, including at least three years supporting live ecommerce operations.
- Evidence of personally building SKU profitability models, commercial forecasts and decisions driven by acquisition economics.
- Understanding of China sourcing and the actual cost of selling consumer products into the United States.
- Strong spreadsheet modeling and data reconciliation skills. Shopify experience is strongly preferred. SQL, Python, Power Query and comparable tools are valuable.
- Demonstrable AI use in genuine finance or analytics workflows, with appropriate validation and controls.
- Sound commercial judgment and the ability to explain recommendations clearly to nonfinance colleagues.
- Professional English communication and Mandarin capability. Must be based in Shenzhen and available for at least four hours of daily overlap with our Vietnam team.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
You will influence launches, budgets, inventory commitments and profitable growth. You will work with decision makers, have access to operating data and help create a practical, AI enabled finance and growth function.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit an English CV, expected monthly compensation in RMB, earliest start date and two anonymized work examples: one product or channel profitability model, and one forecast or AI assisted reporting process. Briefly explain the decisions these examples supported.
Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid practical assessment using sample ecommerce data, then recommend what to scale, fix or stop and quantify the cash implications.
