Are you enthusiastic about helping others learn and embrace new technology? Join the Duke University School of Medicine Office of Data Science and AI as an AI Learning Facilitator and play a key role in advancing Duke's Work Better with AI initiative. In this role, you will help faculty and staff build confidence using Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools through engaging, practical, and responsible learning experiences.

As an educator, facilitator, and learner-support resource, you will guide participants with varying levels of technical experience while promoting responsible AI adoption across the Duke community. This is an exciting opportunity to support workforce transformation and help shape how AI is used in everyday work.

This is a grant-funded term position expected to continue through the funded project period, subject to continued funding and institutional requirements.

Work Performed
• Begin in supporting or breakout-facilitation assignments as appropriate; develop readiness to lead complete sessions, demonstrations, office hours, or other learning experiences through structured preparation, observation, rehearsal, and feedback.
• Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous Work Better With AI Academy learning experiences, including instructor-led sessions, breakout activities, office hours, demonstrations, practice exercises, and participant support.
• Prepare for assigned sessions by reviewing curriculum, facilitator guides, demonstrations, technical requirements, participant materials, and escalation procedures; participate in rehearsals, huddles, and debriefs.
• Create an inclusive, engaging, and psychologically safe learning environment for participants with varied roles, technical backgrounds, and levels of AI experience.
• Translate AI concepts, tools, and responsible-use practices into clear, accessible, and practical guidance for non-technical and technical audiences.
• Develop educational content for AI training initiatives, including recording instructional videos and creating learning assets (job aids, exercises, slide decks, and self-paced resources) for both synchronous and asynchronous formats when provided with a learning objective and module scope.
• Diagnose and resolve routine participant issues involving navigation, access, files, meeting settings, permissions, and learning activities; document recurring issues; and escalate matters requiring system administration, licensing authority, security review, privacy interpretation, or platform engineering through established channels.
• Observe learner engagement, participation patterns, points of confusion, and barriers to successful completion of learning activities; document recurring questions, challenges, and support needs; and recommend practical improvements to curriculum, facilitation approaches, learner resources, or delivery processes based on facilitation experience.
• Monitor changes in approved AI and Microsoft 365 tools that affect learning activities; test assigned workflows; identify outdated instructions, screenshots, or guidance; and update materials through the program’s established review and version-control process.
• Maintain accurate program records and contribute to reports on participation, delivery, learner experience, outcomes, and grant-related milestones.
• Contribute to communities of practice and other activities that encourage responsible experimentation, peer learning, and ongoing adoption of AI.
• The position’s initial primary assignment is the Work Better with AI Academy. As delivery capacity and program priorities permit, the employee may support related AI learning and workforce-enablement initiatives
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, learning sciences, information science, computer science, data science, communications, organizational development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience
Two years of experience delivering training, facilitating adult learning, supporting learning technologies, providing technical consultation or user support, coordinating educational programs, or performing related work. Experience with artificial intelligence tools, digital learning programs, or technology-enabled workforce development is preferred.
Skills
• Ability to facilitate engaging learning experiences in virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and adapt instruction for learners with different backgrounds and skill levels.
• Working knowledge of generative AI concepts and tools, including prompt design, AI-assisted workflows, limitations, and responsible-use considerations.
• Demonstrated practical experience using Microsoft 365 applications in workplace settings, with the ability to develop proficiency in Microsoft Copilot, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel through structured onboarding. (Preferred: experience teaching, demonstrating, or supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable workplace productivity platforms.)
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Sound judgment and ability to recognize when questions require escalation related to technology, policy, data privacy, security, accessibility, or responsible AI.
• Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, document processes, and follow established delivery standards.
• Ability to use feedback and data to identify patterns and recommend practical curriculum or process improvements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment and to establish effective working relationships across a diverse academic and health system community.
• Commitment to continuous learning, inclusive educational practices, and responsible, accessible use of AI.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot or another enterprise generative AI platform in a workplace or training context.
• Experience facilitating cohort-based adult learning, workforce development, or professional education programs.
• Experience supporting learners with varied levels of technical confidence and digital literacy.
• Experience developing facilitator guides, job aids, demonstrations, self-paced learning resources.
• Experience using participant feedback or learning data to improve educational delivery or program design.
• Familiarity with responsible AI principles, privacy, security, accessibility standards, or regulated-environment considerations.
• Experience working in higher education, academic medicine, healthcare, or another complex, matrixed organization.
Note: This role does not require Git, APIs, coding, custom agent development, embeddings, full-stack frameworks, container platforms, authentication systems, or microservice development.

This position is Hybrid eligible. The position is partially remote, and the employee must reside in a Duke University-approved state.
