Who We Are:
At OPENLANE we make wholesale easy so our customers can be more successful.
We’re a technology company building the world’s most advanced—and uncomplicated—digital marketplace for used vehicles.
We’re a data company helping customers buy and sell smarter with clear, actionable insights they can understand and use.
And we’re an innovation company accelerating the future of wholesale remarketing through curiosity, collaboration, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Our Values:
Driven Waybuilders. We pursue challenges that inspire us to build, create, and innovate.
Relentless Curiosity. We seek to understand and improve our customers’ experience.
Smart Risk-Taking. We transform risk into progress through data, experience, and intuition.
Fearless Ownership. We deliver what we promise and learn along the way.
We're Looking For:
OPENLANE employees across engineering, finance, marketing, sales and operations use AI tools every day, and those tools are already saving thousands of hours a year. The AI-Ops team keeps them available, secure and cost-controlled. As an AI-Ops Engineer, you will administer our enterprise AI platforms, support the employees who use them, and automate the provisioning, governance and spend controls behind them. You will also own Waybuilder, our internal site for tracking AI adoption, AI spend and engineering metrics, and administer Linear, our work-tracking platform.
Platforms you will own include Claude (Enterprise, Claude Code, Cowork, Claude Design), ChatGPT Enterprise and the OpenAI API and Codex, ChatGPT dots, Grok and Grok bots, Cursor, and Gemini, plus the connectors, MCP servers and agents built on top of them.
What You'll Do:
Platform administration
- Manage the seat lifecycle for each AI platform: provisioning, deprovisioning, license true-ups and reclaiming unused seats.
- Own identity integration with Okta: SSO, SCIM, access groups and the ESS request workflow.
- Configure workspace, org and project settings, including model access, data retention, connectors and plugins.
- Administer AI code review and agent tooling across GitHub orgs, such as Codex AutoPR, Cursor Bugbot and Claude Code.
- Track vendor releases and roll out new models and features with clear communication to users.
- Administer Linear, including workspace settings, integrations, and testing and rolling out AI features such as Linear Loops.
Employee support and enablement
- Run the #ai-support channel as the tier-2 support function, triaging 50+ requests a month and meeting a published SLA.
- Diagnose access, SSO, connector, MCP, API key and usage-limit problems, and escalate to vendors when needed.
- Write and maintain setup guides, an approved-tools list and FAQs so employees can help themselves.
- Support AI champions and programs such as AI Wins and the AI Cookbook.
Governance, security and cost
- Build and run spend controls: per-user and per-project budgets, model gating, usage dashboards and a monthly seat and spend report.
- Produce the monthly AI billing report for Finance: cost per user, team and business unit across every AI platform, reconciled to vendor invoices.
- Run intake for new AI tools, connectors and MCP servers with Security, Legal and the AI Committee, and track each request to a decision.
- Remove long-lived API keys in favor of SSO, OAuth and workload identity federation.
- Find and address shadow AI: personal accounts on work identities, unapproved tools and unmanaged bots or agents.
- Maintain an inventory of company bots, custom GPTs, Grok bots and agents, with owners and data access.
Waybuilder and automation
- Automate repetitive admin work with vendor admin APIs, infrastructure as code and CI pipelines.
- Use AI agents to do the work where it is safe, with review and audit trails.
- Own the Waybuilder site end to end: feature requests from engineering and product teams, bug fixes, code review and releases.
- Keep its data feeds accurate, including usage and cost data from OpenAI, Claude, Bedrock and Codex, and people data from Okta and Workday.
- Operate its AWS infrastructure with Terraform, and close its security and reliability backlog: least-privilege IAM, database hardening, credential rotation, runbooks and SLOs.
Must Have's:
- 3+ years in SRE, DevOps, IT systems administration or platform engineering.
- Hands-on administration of SaaS platforms at enterprise scale, including SSO and SCIM with Okta or a similar identity provider.
- Scripting in Python, TypeScript or Bash, and experience calling REST admin APIs.
- Working knowledge of GitHub org administration, GitHub Actions and OIDC.
- Hands-on AWS experience (ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, Secrets Manager) and Terraform.
- Daily use of LLM tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, and an understanding of prompts, context, tokens, models and agents.
- Clear written communication and patience supporting non-technical users.
- Sound judgment about data security, credentials and cost.
Nice to Have's:
- Administration of Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI platform, Cursor Business or Gemini for Workspace.
- Experience building or securing MCP servers and connectors.
- Experience with AWS Bedrock and AgentCore; AWS certifications.
- Web development in TypeScript with Next.js and React, and data work in ClickHouse or PostgreSQL.
- FinOps or SaaS license management experience.
- Familiarity with AI security guidance such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLM and agentic applications.
What Success Looks Like:
- You own administration for at least two major AI platforms, with documented runbooks.
- Every support request gets a response; 95% get one within 4 business hours.
- Spend controls and a monthly seat and spend report are in place for each platform.
- A published approved-tools list and an intake process with tracked decisions.
- Manual admin tasks such as seat changes and repo enablement are automated.
- Waybuilder has documented runbooks and SLOs, accurate spend data for every platform, and no open critical security tickets.
What We Offer:
Competitive pay
Medical, dental, and vision benefits with employer HSA contributions (US) and FSA options (US)
Immediately vested 401K (US) or RRSP (Canada) with company match
Paid Vacation, Personal, and Sick Time
