What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an AI Tech Lead to provide technical leadership and drive the successful delivery of AI solutions within the AI Hub. Your mission is to define the technical direction, oversee the end-to-end AI solution lifecycle, and ensure that AI initiatives deliver scalable, secure, and business-driven outcomes. Working closely with the AI Hub Business Lead, you will guide AI projects from solution design and Proof of Concept (PoC) through development, deployment, and continuous improvement. As the technical reference for the Hub, you will support AI Engineers, promote engineering best practices, and identify innovative technologies and opportunities that can be transformed into valuable AI solutions. You will operate at the intersection of AI, software engineering, innovation, and business strategy, helping to maximize the impact of AI across the organization.

What You Will Do on a Daily Basis

• Act as the technical owner of the AI Hub, working in close collaboration with the Business Lead to align technical direction with business priorities and value;

• Take technical responsibility for the AI solutions developed and supported by the Hub;

• Provide technical direction across the Hub portfolio and ensure consistency in architecture, engineering practices and technology choices;

• Represent the AI Hub in technical discussions with engineering teams, architecture, business units and other relevant stakeholders;

• Guide AI solutions throughout their complete lifecycle, from idea and solution design through development, testing and production;

• Support teams in translating business requirements and problems into appropriate technical solutions;

• Support projects in identifying technical risks, dependencies, constraints and appropriate mitigation strategies;

• Ensure solutions are designed with scalability, maintainability, security, reliability and operational readiness in mind;

• Support engineers in solving complex technical challenges and making appropriate technology and architecture decisions;

• Promote software engineering best practices for AI development, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring and operational excellence;

• Encourage reusable approaches, shared components and common technical patterns across different AI initiatives;

• Maintain a forward-looking view of developments in AI and evaluate their potential relevance for GLS;

• Initiate and support Proofs of Concept (PoCs) to evaluate technologies and demonstrate their potential;

• Promote experimentation while maintaining a clear connection between innovation and tangible business outcomes;

• Help evaluate the balance between technical complexity, implementation effort, operational cost and expected value;

• Challenge the use of AI where simpler or more effective technical approaches could solve the problem;

• Communicate the technical vision, capabilities and direction of the AI Hub;

• Support the positioning of the AI Hub as a trusted partner for delivering AI-enabled business solutions;

Your Main Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience;

• Strong professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, machine learning or AI solution development;

• Proven ability to technically lead complex AI or software solutions from design through production;

• Strong understanding of modern AI technologies and development approaches, including Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, machine learning and related frameworks;

• Strong software engineering background and proficiency with modern development practices;

• Experience designing and implementing scalable, production-ready solutions;

• Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-based AI services, preferably Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud;

• Good understanding of APIs, system integration, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and DevOps/MLOps practices;

• Ability to translate business problems and requirements into appropriate technical solutions;

• Ability to evaluate new technologies and determine their applicability and potential business value;

• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities;

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences;

• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across teams without relying solely on formal authority;

• A pragmatic and proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership;

• Curiosity and passion for AI, innovation and emerging technologies;

• Ability to balance innovation, technical excellence and business value.
