About the Role: As we expand into the Portuguese market, we are seeking a proactive AML Officer to play a key role in establishing, managing, and optimizing our compliance operations. Reporting to the AML Team Leader, you will handle day-to-day AML execution while providing valuable, hands-on feedback to optimize our workflows, systems, and market-specific procedures. Responsibilities: Enhanced Due Diligence & Screening: Conduct thorough Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on customers, particularly those deemed medium and high-risk, to ensure full compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Perform Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and sanction checks, evaluating potential risks and ensuring appropriate risk-mitigation measures are applied. Collaborate with customer service, payments, and other internal teams to obtain necessary customer information and documentation. Transaction Monitoring & Analysis: Review and analyze alerts from the transaction monitoring system relating to potentially suspicious activity. Assess customer profiles and transaction behavior across financial and gaming activities, identifying anomalies and investigating irregular activities Reporting, SARs & Documentation: Compile detailed reports on investigation findings, providing recommendations for further action where necessary. Draft, prepare, and handle the submission of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to relevant authorities in accordance with regulatory deadlines Policy & Regulatory Maintenance: Provide recommendations for improvements to AML policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Stay abreast of changes in AML/CFT regulations—specifically regarding the Portuguese market—ensuring company practices remain compliant. Evaluate current AML/CFT tools, monitoring systems, and operational workflows, providing proactive feedback and recommendations to the AMLTeam Leader/MLRO to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Ad-hoc AML Duties: Respond to various AML-related inquiries and tasks as directed by the AML Team Leader and/or the MLRO. Actively participate in and lead AML-related projects, including system enhancements, process improvements, regulatory change implementation, and remediation plans. Participate in the testing and implementation of new tools or systems to enhance AML compliance. Requirements Previous experience in a similar AML/Compliance role and a strong understanding of the online gaming industry. Fluency in Portuguese is a plus but not mandatory; strong written and spoken English is required. Familiarity with PEP screening, sanction checks, and SAR filing processes. Team player capable of working collaboratively and cross-functionally. Willingness to learn, a "can-do" attitude, and the self-motivation to operate independently without requiring constant oversight. Rigorous with a structured approach to problem-solving. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational skills. High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
