About Cellulant:

Cellulant
is Africa’s leading payments company, providing seamless, secure and innovative solutions that empower businesses, banks, and global brands to thrive in a fast-changing global economy.

With a presence in over 24 countries and 200+ payment methods across cards, bank transfer and mobile money, our single API payment platform, Tingg, simplifies collections, disbursements, and reconciliations. It processes over 1 million transactions daily for market leaders across sectors such as Airlines, Telecoms, E-commerce, Ride-Hailing, Retail, and Remittances.

By simplifying how people pay and get paid, we drive trust, commerce and scale – and connect companies to their ambitions.

Our Mission:

To deliver seamless, secure and innovative payment solutions for businesses.

Our Vision:
To create a connected world where businesses move money as easily as they share ideas.

Our Story:

Across Africa, payments are more than transactions. They are gateways to prosperity, connecting people, businesses and communities to opportunities and growth.

From enabling a logistics company in Lusaka to pay suppliers across borders, to enabling a hospitality brand in Lagos to scale effortlessly, to supporting an airline in Nairobi to reconcile payments from multiple platforms, Cellulant is the bridge that makes it all possible.

Through trusted technology and customer-centric innovation, we build connections that inspire progress, strengthen economies and transform payments into a tool for progress.

Since our founding in 2003, we've continuously adapted and grown, leveraging our experiences to simplify payments for businesses. We are driven by an unshakable belief that seamless people-centred payments are the key to unlocking prosperity.

Today, Cellulant powers online and offline payment processing, allowing businesses to collect payments, send payouts, and accelerate business growth.

Role Overview:

This role is responsible for the end-to-end execution of revenue, cost of sales, intercompany transactions, and inventory accounting. In a high-growth fintech environment, the Revenue & Cost Accountant ensures that every transaction is accurately captured, reconciled, and reported. You are responsible for bridging the gap between operational data and the general ledger, ensuring 100% financial integrity in the daily and monthly cycles.

What You'll do:

1. Revenue Accounting Operations

  • Execute the month-end revenue close, including the preparation of revenue recognition entries, accruals, and deferred revenue schedules.
  • Perform regular reconciliations between operational systems (payment gateways, core platforms) and the general ledger to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain the revenue sub-ledger, tracking customer billings, collections, and deferrals with high precision.
  • Support IFRS 15 compliance by ensuring correct timing and classification of revenue based on established company policy.

2. Cost of Sales & Direct Costing

  • Record and track all direct costs (transaction fees, platform costs, and partner commissions) across all entities.
  • Perform first-level gross margin analysis, flagging trends or anomalies for senior review.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation based on revenue streams, entities, or specific products.

3. Intercompany Transaction Management

  • Record and reconcile intercompany revenue, cost-sharing, and recharges across group entities.
  • Prepare intercompany billing statements, ensuring alignment with transfer pricing policies.
  • Process month-end intercompany eliminations and ensure balances match across the group.

4. Inventory Accounting

  • Manage day-to-day inventory accounting, maintaining and reconciling balances across vendors and third parties.
  • Execute internal controls over inventory movement and valuation.

5. Reporting & Audit Support

  • Prepare month-end schedules and working papers for revenue, COGS, intercompany, and inventory.
  • Coordinate with auditors to provide documentation and lead-schedules for all covered areas.
  • Any other activity or report that may be assigned/required from time to time.

6. Systems & Process Support

  • Monitor system mappings between revenue systems and the general ledger to ensure data flow accuracy.
  • Identify and report opportunities to automate reconciliations or postings.

7. Regulatory Liaison

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison with the relevant regulatory authorities, ensuring consistent communication, timely submission of required information, and coordination of all regulatory engagements on behalf of the organization.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in revenue accounting, cost accounting, or general financial accounting.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS 15 / ASC 606 and cost recognition principles.
  • Experience in fintech, SaaS, or high-growth tech companies with complex revenue models is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle) and billing platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple streams of accounting in a hands-on capacity.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commitment to accuracy.

Why this role matters?

In a high-growth fintech environment, thousands of transactions flow through our platforms daily—making precision, compliance, and financial integrity critical to our success. As our Revenue & Direct Cost Accountant, you are the backbone of our financial engine. You bridge the gap between raw operational data and the general ledger, ensuring every dollar earned, cost incurred, and intercompany movement is accurately reconciled and reported.

By taking full ownership of our revenue recognition (IFRS 15), gross margin tracking, intercompany eliminations, and regulatory compliance, you directly safeguard our margins, power audit readiness, and provide leadership with the trusted data needed to scale our business safely.
