You crave a career that pushes you, where you'll meet challenges head on and you're guaranteed to grow.

You're all about the detail and this role will allow you to drive evidence-based decision making to optimise systems and efficiency, not just for the business but for our customers too. It's data and research with impact you can see.

In this role, you'll:

Working as part of a high-performing analytics function delivering critical insights that shape transport safety, policy and regulatory outcomes across NSW, this role will see you leading a team of analysts to transform complex data into meaningful, evidence-based insights. You'll partner with stakeholders across Transport, tackle strategic business challenges, and deliver high-impact analytics that inform executive, ministerial and operational decision-making.

You will lead, influence and innovate, driving the delivery of strategic analytics, rapid response reporting and data-driven recommendations in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. Managing a team of four, you'll coach and develop analytical capability, oversee sprint-based work planning, and help move the organisation from reactive reporting towards proactive, strategic insight generation.

This role operates within our hybrid working model, requiring 50% workplace attendance. The home base for this role is Macquarie Park, with flexibility to work from other office locations at times. Team collaboration days are on Tuesdays.

About you

Your people leadership, stakeholder engagement and advanced analytics experience formed across complex, data-rich environments will see you excel in delivering strategic insights, managing competing priorities and translating business challenges into practical analytical solutions. You will bring the ability to navigate competing stakeholder demands, work confidently with imperfect data and connect multiple data sources to uncover meaningful insights.

You're recognised as a collaborative and proactive leader, skilled at building trusted relationships, developing analytical capability and communicating complex concepts to non-technical audiences. Experienced in leading analytics functions, you'll bring strong capability in Power BI and SQL, while experience with Python, Databricks or other statistical and data engineering software packages will be highly regarded. Experience in analysing crash data or other complex operational datasets will be advantageous, enabling you to quickly understand specialised data and deliver insights that support safer, evidence-based decision making.
