Location: Urbandale, IA 50322 (Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 12 Months Contract with possibility of Extension

Shift Structure: First Shift | Standard Daytime Business Hours (Approx. 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST), Monday through Friday

Pay Rate: $40.00 - $43.00/hr on W2

Job Description: Our client Is the cutting-edge technology powerhouse driving autonomous farming machinery, connected fleet systems, and precision agriculture platforms, is seeking an experienced API Verification Engineer (System Integration & Test Engineer) to join their Product Verification & Validation (PV&V) team in Urbandale, IA. In this critical software quality and integration role, you will take ownership of end-to-end API verification across complex cloud services, edge devices, and data streaming layers. You will design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for RESTful APIs using tools like Postman and Bruno, validate JSON schemas and auth protocols, execute negative and boundary scenarios, and partner closely with software developers to isolate root causes and ensure release readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• API Testing & Verification: Independently develop and execute detailed test strategies and test cases covering RESTful APIs, validating HTTP status behaviors, request/response headers, JSON payload schemas, query parameters, and edge boundary scenarios.
• Security & Auth Verification: Validate security tokens, OAuth flows, user roles, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and access control permissions across integrated microservices.
• Tooling & Test Harnesses: Utilize API testing and automation clients such as Postman, Bruno, or comparable frameworks to build reusable test collections, automate regression suites, and parameterize test runs.
• Integration & Systems Testing: Perform rigorous functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end system testing across cloud microservices, data pipelines, and third-party API boundaries.
• Test Data Architecture: Create, configure, and manage synthetic test datasets and environments needed to exercise complex agricultural and fleet integration workflows.
• Defect Lifecycle & Root Cause Analysis: Log high-quality, reproducible defect tickets; perform log analysis and debugging across cloud services to support developer root-cause investigations.
• Release Risk Assessment: Evaluate test verification metrics, communicate technical quality risks clearly to product owners and developers, and provide go/no-go release recommendations within an Agile delivery cadence.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience Level: 4 to 7+ years of professional experience in Software Verification, System Integration & Testing (SIT), Quality Engineering, or API Testing supporting complex, multi-tiered enterprise software systems.
• REST API Deep-Dive: Comprehensive hands-on experience validating REST APIs, including HTTP methods, status codes, payload structures, query filters, and contract specifications.
• API Testing Tools: Proven proficiency with Postman, Bruno, Swagger/OpenAPI, or comparable API clients.
• Systems Troubleshooting: Strong analytical troubleshooting skills with the ability to trace issues across web front-ends, API gateways, cloud backends, and databases.
• Test Design & Methodologies: Proven ability to translate user stories, technical architecture documents, and acceptance criteria into structured test strategies, boundary matrices, and negative test cases.
• Agile Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams alongside developers, product owners, and systems architects.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.

Stand-Out Skills (Preferred):

• Experience with automated API test frameworks (Newman, RestAssured, Playwright, Python pytest, or JavaScript).
• Background verifying IoT telemetry, geospatial mapping data, or cloud data pipelines in AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD build integration (running API test suites in GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Willingness to work onsite in Urbandale, IA (strongly preferred by engineering leadership).
