Build Scalable Applications at the Intersection of Technology, Data & Financial Services

We are looking for an Application Developer to join a global technology team building and supporting business-critical applications within a large international financial services environment.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Java, Spring and Scala, with exposure to Big Data, distributed processing, REST APIs and DevOps automation.

You'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle while collaborating with engineering and business teams across Budapest and multiple international locations.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain robust backend applications using Java, Spring and Scala.
• Build and maintain RESTful web services based on established API contracts.
• Develop data-processing and batch solutions with a focus on orchestration, performance, scalability and stability.
• Use Apache Spark to parallelize and optimize complex calculations.
• Participate throughout the full SDLC, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
• Develop and maintain DevOps automation supporting continuous integration and deployment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability.
• Work with relational databases and large-scale data platforms.
• Collaborate with globally distributed technology and business teams.

What We're Looking For

✔ Strong professional programming experience with Java, preferably using Spring.

✔ Strong experience with Scala or another JVM-based language.

✔ Good knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase or DB2.

✔ Experience with Big Data technologies and repositories, such as Hadoop and MongoDB.

✔ Experience working within modern Agile software development environments.

✔ Strong understanding of software development practices across design, development, testing and production support.

✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

✔ Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

⭐ Apache Spark and distributed/parallel data processing.

⭐ UNIX/Linux debugging and troubleshooting.

⭐ DevOps and automation experience.

⭐ AutoSys, UNIX Shell scripting, Perl or Python.

⭐ Angular, React, JavaScript or TypeScript.

⭐ Business reporting, data analytics or data science exposure.

⭐ Large-scale data processing and financial calculations.
