Summary: The Application Engineer II provides technical support and administration for enterprise applications and associated services that support Finance and other enabling functions across SCRI. Responsibilities include configuring, testing, documenting, troubleshooting, and optimizing application solutions to ensure reliable system performance, operational efficiency, and alignment with business objectives. The role supports day-to-day application operations, user issue triage, release testing, data review, integration monitoring, documentation, and coordination with internal business, IT, reporting, security, and vendor teams. The successful candidate will help analyze business and system support needs, document user-reported issues, assist with configuration and enhancement requests, support testing and validation activities, maintain runbooks and knowledge articles, and contribute to reliable, compliant application operations. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, analytical thinking, documentation discipline, customer focus, and the ability to work effectively in a regulated environment with defined change control and testing expectations. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: Assist in designing, documenting, testing, and supporting integrations between FSM, Infor OS, and other enabling business applications. Works with product owners, business analysts, delivery teams, reporting teams, security, infrastructure, quality/compliance, and vendor partners to understand support needs and document clear requirements or issue details. Triages and documents incidents, service requests, access issues, configuration questions, integration errors, data discrepancies, and application defects; escalates complex items to senior team members or vendor support as appropriate. Assists with Infor FSM releases, patches, upgrades, configuration changes, and regression testing by preparing test scenarios, executing assigned testing, documenting results, and supporting change control activities and other applications as assigned. Partners with reporting and analytics teams to support Power BI data questions, reconciliation needs, KPI definition clarity, and operational dashboard follow-up. Creates and maintains support documentation, runbooks, issue summaries, meeting notes, test evidence, release notes, knowledge articles, and standard operating support procedures. Assists with monitoring application(s) health, integration performance, recurring failures, release impacts, data quality trends, and operational readiness items; gathers examples and supporting detail for escalation. Provides timely and clear communication to stakeholders regarding issue status, ticket updates, testing progress, risks, blockers, and supports next steps. Contributes to continuous improvement of support processes, documentation standards, testing checklists, monitoring practices, and knowledge sharing across the application support team. Works in an environment with changing business priorities while following established support processes, maintaining customer focus, and escalating risks or blockers appropriately. Working knowledge of application support, incident management, ticket tracking, release support, testing, documentation, and production support practices. Foundational understanding of Infor FSM as a cloud ERP platform, including configuration versus customization concepts and release cadence considerations. Understanding core finance data and transaction concepts, including chart of accounts, accounting entities, project hierarchy, study funding and management, receivables, posting logic, lifecycle events, and period close. Working knowledge of Infor OS concepts, ION architecture, event-driven integrations, document flows, connectors, monitoring, error handling, and message reprocessing. Foundational understanding of IPA automation patterns, including triggers, tasks, conditions, loops, logging, retry logic, timeout handling, recovery strategy, and operational metrics. Awareness of Birst extracts, subject areas, data lineage, extract cadence, refresh dependencies, data lake dependencies, and Power BI reporting impacts. Familiarity with validated or controlled system environments, test documentation, audit readiness, security, governance, and regulated application support expectations preferred. Focus on customer service, operational reliability, data quality, compliance, governance, and secure support outcomes. Skills: 3+ years of experience supporting, testing, administering, configuring, documenting, or troubleshooting enterprise applications required. Experience supporting vendor-hosted, SaaS, ERP, finance, healthcare, life sciences, or regulated business applications preferred. Ability to read and explain integration flows, gather root-cause details, document errors, and coordinate issue resolution across business and technical teams. Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and change management practices Understanding API-based integrations and enterprise architecture concepts. Ability to perform root cause analysis across applications, integrations, reporting, and data layers. Experience interpreting data lineage and business process flows. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with finance users, business stakeholders, vendors, technical teams, and leadership. Ability to create clear support documentation, runbooks, test evidence, requirements note, ticket updates, release summaries, and stakeholder communications. Ability to support UAT, regression testing, smoke testing, release validation, incident triage, and post-release follow-up activities. Abilities: An underlying, enduring trait useful for performing duties. Ability to troubleshoot application, configuration, data, access, integration, automation, reporting, and user-reported issues with limited guidance and appropriate escalation. Ability to trace user action to system events to downstream impact and explain issues in practical terms to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to balance customer service, compliance expectations, operational stability, documentation quality, and assigned delivery timelines. Ability to learn finance workflows and technical platform concepts in the right sequence, beginning with business context before tools and automation. Ability to work through ambiguity, ask effective discovery questions, identify patterns, document assumptions, and escalate risks appropriately. Ability to maintain curiosity about how data moves, discipline around documentation and governance, and business empathy when supporting finance and operational users. Physical & Mental Demands and Working Conditions The position may be required to participate in application support coverage or escalation support as needed. Travel less than 5% of the time. Prolonged sitting at a desk may be required. Some after-hours of work may be required to support releases, production incidents, integration monitoring, or business-critical close activities.
