Job Description Apprenticeship Business Development Manager Salary: Up to £35,000 basic plus commission Location: Hybrid, with attendance at the South Yorkshire office typically twice a week Target: £6,000 in monthly apprenticeship start payments, normally equating to approximately 12-15 starts depending on programme mix LT Selection is recruiting for an established training provider seeking an energetic, commercially confident business-development professional. This is a hands-on new-business role for somebody who combines consistent prospecting with deeper employer conversations, initiative and measurable delivery. The opportunity You will build relationships with employers, understand their workforce priorities and convert those conversations into suitable apprenticeship starts. Rather than pushing one familiar standard, you will explore the employer's wider need and shape an appropriate solution from a broad apprenticeship and workforce-development offer. You will own an assigned territory and a visible sales pipeline, working with the Head of Sales, marketing support and delivery colleagues. The role requires disciplined daily activity, accurate reporting and the confidence to generate ideas rather than wait for leads to arrive. This is a hybrid role and is not fully remote. What success looks like Achieving the established target of £6,000 in monthly apprenticeship start payments, typically around 12-15 starts depending on programme mix. Building a credible and active pipeline from new employer relationships and progressing opportunities with pace. Holding consultative employer conversations that uncover skills, productivity, digital and people-development needs. Selling across the full portfolio and presenting tailored programme options rather than defaulting to one standard. Showing clear personal contribution through recorded activity, pipeline evidence, conversions and starts. Creating repeatable employer relationships that support sustainable growth rather than one-off transactions. Key responsibilities Develop new employer relationships across an allocated territory through purposeful prospecting, calls, meetings, networking, roundtables and relevant local activity. Maintain a consistent working rhythm with sufficient input to generate the required output, using judgement and initiative rather than relying on minimum activity levels. Diagnose employer needs and translate them into appropriate apprenticeship and wider workforce-development solutions. Present programmes confidently, including the added value and tailored content available within the offer. Manage the employer-development cycle from first conversation and needs analysis through to commitment, onboarding and learner start. Maintain accurate CRM records, weekly activity reporting, opportunity values, next steps and realistic start forecasts. Use employer and market data intelligently, converting supplied information into focused campaigns and conversations. Collaborate with marketing, sales and skills-coach colleagues to develop relevant messages, insight-led activity and credible employer solutions. Protect quality by setting accurate expectations and ensuring opportunities are suitable, viable and ready to progress. Programme portfolio The offer spans digital and business-professional provision, including Business Analyst, Data Technician, Multi-Channel Marketer, Business Improvement, Business Administration, Customer Service, Team Leading, Management, Coaching, Employability Practitioner and Childcare-related programmes. Programmes can include relevant qualifications and added-value content where requirements allow. What we are looking for Evidence of sustained success in apprenticeship sales, funded training, workforce development or a comparable employer-facing B2B environment. The ability to evidence personal results including starts, revenue, employer wins, pipeline conversion and the activity behind them. A proactive and energetic working style, with the resilience to prospect consistently and follow opportunities through. Strong commercial questioning, listening and presentation skills, with the confidence to hold credible conversations at different levels within an employer. The curiosity to learn a broad portfolio and match solutions to need instead of relying on a single product. Good organisation, territory planning, CRM discipline, forecasting and accountability for agreed actions. A collaborative approach and willingness to work visibly with colleagues. Willingness and ability to travel across the assigned territory and attend the South Yorkshire office, typically twice a week. Fresh-sector talent welcome Direct apprenticeship experience is valuable, but it is not the only route into the role. Strong employer-facing candidates from adjacent sectors will be considered where they can demonstrate pace, tenacity, commercial judgement, relationship-building ability and measurable results. Selection approach The selection process will focus on evidence as well as presentation. Candidates should be ready to discuss and, where possible, substantiate monthly starts or comparable sales outcomes, revenue contribution, new employers personally developed, pipeline conversion, sales-cycle management and daily prospecting routines. Apply through LT Selection. The employer will remain confidential during initial attraction activity.
