Position Summary: The Archaeology Project Manager leads a team of archaeologists, architectural historians, and archaeological technicians delivering cultural resource projects, with applied knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). This role manages project teams, schedules, and deliverables, ensures quality and timely completion of projects, and is responsible for the continued professional development of team members. Must meet the Secretary of the Interior (SOI) Standards for Archaeology (36 CFR 61). Requires 5+ years of field experience, including 2+ years as a Principal Investigator, and 1+ years of management experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to and coordinate with the Group Manager/Vice President
- Interface with internal management, clients, SHPOs, and tribal nations
- Lead and manage project teams and schedules, ensuring effective allocation of resources and timely completion of project deliverables
- Manage project expectations and ensure projects are completed to the specified scope of work and budget
- Complete report reviews and QA/QC of deliverables
- Develop and implement archaeological research plans, methodologies, and protocols
- Prepare proposals and oversee complex projects such as balloon tests, NRHP nominations, and archaeological monitoring
- Proactively communicate potential issues that may affect project outcomes or timelines
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and make salary and promotion recommendations
- Support the hiring, onboarding, and continued professional development of team members
- Track projects, and assist in researching new policies and procedures to ensure continuous compliance
- Perform occasional fieldwork as required
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Meets or exceeds the SOI Standards for Archaeology as outlined in 36 CFR 61
- Expert familiarity with Section 106 of the NHPA, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) regulations
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal cultural resource regulations, and ability to stay current with advancements, regulations, and best practices in archaeology and cultural resources management
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Self-motivated, quick learning, and flexible, with a common-sense approach to business and workload management
- Thorough working knowledge of Office 365 software programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, detail orientation, and recognized organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently with a commitment to excellence
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or Architectural History; minimum of 5 years of field experience, including 2 years as a Principal Investigator managing all aspects of project completion, and 1+ years of management experience
Licenses and Certifications:
- Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification
- Valid driver's license required

- Frequently required to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, reviewing reports, and attending meetings
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and traverse uneven outdoor terrain when performing fieldwork

- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, field equipment, and cameras
- Sufficient visual acuity to read maps, records, and computer screens
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when performing fieldwork
Work Environment and Travel:
- Travel to project sites and client meetings is required; overnight travel is generally not expected to exceed 2-3 days at a time
Potential Hazards:
- Occasional fieldwork may involve exposure to extreme weather, insects, poisonous plants, wildlife, and uneven terrain; appropriate PPE and site-specific safety protocols are used

Salary Range: Starting at $75,000. The complete salary range will be determined by a number of factors such as experience, regional cost of living and other factors
