Architect – Industrial & Commercial Construction

X2 Roles:

LHP 5-8

LPH 1-5

The Opportunity

An established international construction and engineering business is seeking an experienced Architect to join its design team in Germany, contributing to the development of industrial and commercial building projects.

You will work collaboratively with engineering specialists, clients and relevant authorities to develop practical, coordinated architectural solutions that meet project requirements.

The role offers involvement across the design process, from initial concepts and presentations through to planning applications and subsequent project stages. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to architectural competitions and support the development of proposals for complex building projects.

Location: Düsseldorf, Germany, with home-office flexibility

Salary: Circa €60,000 - €75,000 (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop architectural concepts and design proposals for industrial and commercial building projects.
  • Prepare professional design presentations and communicate architectural concepts clearly to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, building services specialists and other technical consultants to develop coordinated design solutions.
  • Liaise with clients and relevant authorities to discuss, refine and obtain approval for proposed designs.
  • Produce architectural drawings and design documentation using CAD software, with the ability to develop visualisations where required.
  • Prepare and develop designs into planning application documentation.
  • Contribute to the design development and approval process, ensuring proposals meet project specifications and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate architectural design activities and provide technical guidance to other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in architectural competitions, contributing creative concepts, presentation materials and design proposals.
  • Provide architectural drawings and technical information to support estimating, procurement and commercial activities.
  • Support the continued development of projects beyond the initial design and planning stages, working with the wider project team to maintain design intent.

Key Requirements:

  • A degree in Architecture or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Several years of professional experience working as an Architect within a design consultancy, construction business or comparable built-environment organisation.
  • Experience in the design and planning of industrial, commercial or other complex building projects.
  • Strong conceptual design skills, with the ability to translate project briefs into well-developed architectural proposals.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, with experience using Autodesk Revit and/or Nemetschek Allplan particularly relevant.
  • Experience coordinating architectural designs with engineering disciplines and managing communication with clients and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the planning approval process and relevant building regulations in Germany.
  • A structured and independent working approach, combined with creativity, initiative and effective problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within an international project environment.
  • Very good German and confident English language skills, both written and spoken.

PLEASE NOTE

Fluent German at B2 level or above is essential for this position, alongside strong English communication skills. Candidates without the required German language capability will unfortunately not be considered.
