California Home Company is a Sacramento builder that designs and builds homes from concept to completion: land, design, permitting, construction and after-care under one team. Our work spans custom single-family homes, ADUs, duplexes, additions and remodels across Northern California.
We are looking for an Architectural Designer who is confident in Revit to prepare architectural drawings and permit-ready documentation for our US residential projects. You will work remotely with our architects, project managers and founders through online tools and video calls.
This role is not a fit for graphic designers, web designers, interior designers or 3D visualizers. We need someone who produces architectural drawings and construction documents.
- Prepare complete drawing sets in Revit to our company standards and templates: site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections and details.
- Research zoning and code for each lot: setbacks, lot coverage, FAR, height limits and ADU rules under the California Residential Code (CRC), California Building Code (CBC) and local requirements.
- Prepare permit drawings and permit packages for city and county building departments.
- Work through architect redlines and plan-check comments, and issue revised sheets.
- Coordinate drawings with structural and civil engineers and Title 24 energy consultants.
- Work on single-family homes, ADUs, garage conversions and duplexes.
- Keep project files organized in Google Drive and tasks current in Asana.
Required
- 2+ years of hands-on Revit work.
- 2+ years preparing architectural drawings and construction documents.
- Experience on residential projects.
- Fluent reading of architectural drawings and building documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and self-organization.
- English at Intermediate (B1) or higher: you read technical documents and speak with the team in online meetings.
Licensing & education
- No US architect license is required. Our licensed team members review and sign drawings where a stamp is needed.
- A degree in architecture or civil engineering is a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with US residential projects and permit drawings.
- Knowledge of US codes: CRC, CBC and Title 24.
- AutoCAD.
- Experience with ADUs, garage conversions or duplexes.
- Fully remote, flexible schedule. Work from anywhere, and choose your own schedule, with a couple of team meetings a week.
- See your drawings get built. We are a builder, not a design-only studio. Our own crews build the homes you draw in California.
- Long-term work. We're building a permanent team and plan to work together for years.
- Real onboarding. Our training program covers plan development, California codes, zoning and our Revit standards.
- Room to grow. We promote from within and invest in people who grow with us.
- Values we live by: Quality Craftsmanship, Integrity, and Innovation & Design Excellence.
