Architect (Sports and Leisure)
In partnership with hiyaAn exciting opportunity has come up for an Architect or Part 3 Architect to join a growing design and delivery team working across a portfolio of padel and leisure venues throughout the UK.
The business is developing a range of sites, from outdoor and rooftop padel venues to existing building conversions, alongside supporting hospitality spaces including reception areas, cafés and changing facilities.
This is a varied role that offers exposure to projects from early feasibility and planning through to technical design and construction, with the opportunity to take real ownership as the business continues to grow.
The role
Working closely with the wider team, you’ll contribute across multiple live projects, with responsibilities including:
- Developing feasibility studies, site layouts and concept proposals
- Designing reception, café, changing and associated external spaces
- Preparing UK planning applications, Design & Access Statements and presentation material
- Producing technical drawings, details, schedules and specifications
- Coordinating architectural information with structural, civil, M&E and specialist consultants
- Working with external architects and consultants on larger projects, including briefing, coordination and design review
- Responding to contractor queries and supporting projects through construction
- Attending sites across the UK to assess opportunities and review progress
- Developing repeatable details and design standards across future venues
About you
The ideal candidate will be an Architect, or currently completing Part 3 with registration expected before starting.
You’ll need:
- Professional experience across the RIBA work stages, particularly planning, technical design and construction
- Experience preparing UK planning applications and coordinated technical information
- A good understanding of UK Building Regulations, materials and construction
- Strong technical and design judgement
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite
- The right to work in the UK
- A willingness to travel regularly to project sites
Experience across leisure, sport, hospitality, commercial fit-out, refurbishment or modular construction would be advantageous, as would experience working directly with contractors and delivering technical packages.
Previous experience in padel isn't required. More important is your ability to demonstrate your individual contribution to the projects within your portfolio, particularly where you've been involved in technical design and delivery.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an Architect looking to join a business at an exciting stage of its growth, with the chance to work across a varied and rapidly expanding portfolio of leisure projects and play a meaningful role in shaping the design standards as the business develops.
