ART DIRECTOR | FAT POODLE
📍 Stanmore, Sydney
💼 Contract, full-time
🏡 Three days in the office, two days working from home
ABOUT FAT POODLE
Fat Poodle is a female-owned, Sydney-based production company working across social content, branded entertainment and documentary. We produce work for brands and platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Audible, Stan., SBS and Red Bull. We bring creative thinking and production together under one roof, taking projects from the first idea through to the final edit.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a hands on Art Director with exceptional design skills, strong conceptual thinking and a talent for making killer decks.
Working on a global streaming service client, you’ll develop original ideas for brand partnerships and campaigns, shape their visual direction and bring them to life through beautifully crafted presentations and campaign creative.
You’re at the intersection of culture and design. You know what people are watching, sharing and talking about, and you know how to turn that insight into original ideas and standout visuals. From entertainment and fandom to fashion, creators and internet culture, your references are fresh, your instincts are sharp and your design brings it all together.
Presentation design will be a core part of your role. You’ll turn concepts, strategic thinking and outlines into compelling decks that tell a clear story, make ideas tangible and get clients excited.
You’re equally comfortable contributing to a brainstorm, setting the art direction and doing the design yourself. You can see how an idea works across a campaign while caring about the typography, imagery and finishing touches on every slide.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design standout decks. Own the visual design and structure of pitch presentations, creative proposals and client documents, making every presentation clear, distinctive and persuasive.
- Bring original ideas. Work with our founder and creative team to turn briefs, audience insights and brand objectives into compelling concepts for partnerships and campaigns.
- Know culture and use it well. Bring relevant references from entertainment, fandom, creators, design and everyday life, finding fresh connections between brands and audiences.
- Shape the visual direction. Develop moodboards, key visuals, typography, colour palettes and graphic treatments that give each concept a cohesive identity.
- Make concepts tangible. Create polished mock-ups, storyboards and visual treatments that help clients picture campaigns, social content and real-world activations.
- Think across channels. Show how a central idea can extend across TV, digital, social, outdoor, retail and live experiences, adapting the execution to each platform.
- Own the craft through delivery. Take design projects from initial exploration through feedback, refinement and final execution, maintaining quality and consistency.
- Build better templates and systems. Develop presentation templates and reusable assets that raise the standard of our work.
- Collaborate and share your thinking. Present ideas, brief external creative partners and provide constructive direction to designers and collaborators.
- Keep exploring. Share fresh references, techniques and tools, including practical applications of AI for concept development and visual production.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Experience in art direction or design within a creative agency, design studio or similar environment.
- An exceptional portfolio demonstrating hands-on presentation design, strong visual craft and original campaign thinking.
- A meticulous eye for typography, layout, composition, colour and image selection.
- The ability to develop a creative concept and translate it into a distinctive visual direction across multiple channels.
- A natural curiosity about culture and a strong instinct for what will connect with an audience.
- A solid understanding of social platforms, content formats and how people engage with brands and entertainment.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Slides and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Strong compositing and image-editing skills, with the ability to produce polished, convincing mock-ups.
- Practical experience with AI creative tools such as Runway and Higgsfield for visual development and content creation.
- Confidence presenting ideas, explaining design decisions and responding thoughtfully to feedback.
- Strong organisation and the ability to balance multiple briefs, deadlines and brand requirements.
- A collaborative attitude and the confidence to take ownership. Experience in entertainment, streaming or brand partnerships is a plus.
WHY FAT POODLE?
You’ll work on a global streaming service client, collaborating directly with our founder, creatives and production team. You’ll contribute ideas from the outset, shape their visual direction and see them come to life across campaigns, content and experiences.
We value people who share references, ask questions, support their teammates and care about making the work better. We’re an independent business where your ideas, initiative and contribution can make a real difference.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through LinkedIn with your CV, portfolio and a short introduction. Include examples of decks you’ve personally designed, alongside campaign concepts you’ve helped develop, clearly outlining your contribution to each project. We’d love to see both your visual craft and the thinking behind the work.
