About Bubuu
Bubuu is a Vienna-based technology company building intelligent products that put data and machine learning to work on real-world problems. We’refast-moving team that values curiosity, experimentation, and shipping. We’d rather see an idea working in production than perfect on a slide. Engineers here work across disciplines with product, data, and design, and have real influence over what we build and how.
We work remote-first, with our home base in Vienna. We care more about the quality of your thinking than where your desk is.
The Role
As an AI Engineer, you’ll design, build, and deploy the AI systems behind Bubuu’s products and internal tools. You’ll take ideas from prototype to production: choosing the right approach, building it, measuring whether it works, and making it reliable at scale.
What you’ll do
- Build and ship AI features end to end, from LLM-powered workflows and NLP pipelines to custom ML models
- Design retrieval (RAG), agentic, and tool-use systems that hold up in production
- Set up evaluation frameworks so we know, with data, whether a model or prompt change is an improvement
- Integrate models into production software through APIs, services, and cloud infrastructure
- Work closely with product managers, data engineers, and developers to turn fuzzy problems into concrete solutions
- Keep up with the field and bring the best new tools, models, and research into our stack
What we’re looking for
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: clean code, algorithms, data structures, version control
- Solid Python skills and hands-on experience with ML/AI frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Hugging Face, scikit-learn)
- Experience building with LLMs: prompting, RAG, fine-tuning, or agent frameworks
- A practical understanding of NLP, model evaluation, and performance tuning
- Experience deploying models to production (APIs, microservices, cloud platforms)
- Clear communication: you can explain a technical trade-off to a non-technical teammate
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Data engineering experience (pipelines, vector databases, data quality)
- Familiarity with MLOps, observability, and cost and latency optimization
- Knowledge of responsible AI practices and the EU AI Act
- Side projects, open-source contributions, or writing you’re proud of. Send us the link!
What you get
- Fully remote work, with a team centered in Vienna (CET)
- Real ownership: your work ships and users feel it
- Budget and time for learning, conferences, and exploring new tools
- A team that experiments, shares what it learns, and doesn’t do bureaucracy
How to apply
- Apply through LinkedIn and tell us, in a few sentences, about an AI system you built and something that surprised you along the way. We read every application.
- Not the right fit but curious about what we’re building? Follow Bubuu on LinkedIn. We share what we learn about building real-world AI..
