AI Engineer / GenAI Engineer – Germany (Remote)
Location: Germany (Fully Remote)
Engagement: Freelance Contract
Languages: German and English
Duration: 6–12 months, with potential extension
About the Opportunity
We are supporting an established international System Integrator in the search for an experienced Freelance AI Engineer to support ongoing and upcoming enterprise AI initiatives.
The successful candidate will work on the design, development and implementation of AI-driven solutions, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable, production-ready applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freelance professional looking to contribute to challenging enterprise projects within an established technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement Generative AI and LLM-based solutions.
- Build and optimise Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Develop AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Build scalable AI applications using Python and relevant frameworks.
- Integrate AI solutions with existing enterprise systems, APIs and platforms.
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects, data specialists and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the deployment, monitoring and optimisation of AI solutions.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong Python development skills.
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs and Machine Learning.
- Experience implementing RAG solutions and AI-powered applications.
- Knowledge of frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Previous experience delivering projects within enterprise environments.
- Experience working with System Integrators, IT consultancies or large enterprise organisations.
- Fluent German and good professional English.
