Description of Work

The North Carolina Arts Council is looking for well-rounded Arts Learning Coordinator. The Arts Learning Coordinator is a member of the Arts Learning Team, assisting the Senior Program Director for Arts Learning and other team members, with the coordination of professional development and other initiatives for educators and schools across the state. This position manages registration processes, contracts and agreements, and logistical details, maintaining clear and consistent communication with artists, A+ Fellows, school leaders, and other constituents. The Arts Learning Coordinator will also provide technical support to the Arts Learning Team and will assist with marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage logistics for professional development institutes, conferences, meetings, and workshops that NCAC provides for various constituents. As part of the planning process, completes school/educator needs assessments and facilitates post event reflection and evaluation.
• Provide support for the A+ Fellows who serve as the contracted faculty for the various professional development experiences throughout the year. Manage planning and organization for professional development and planning opportunities for the A+ Fellows faculty.
• Help to plan, manage and facilitate summer training institutes throughout the state for A+ Schools each summer. Help to plan and facilitate professional development opportunities open to educators, arts leaders, schools and school leadership offered through Arts Learning at NCAC throughout the school year.
• Provide technical assistance for existing and interested schools including responding to school queries, locating and providing resources, receiving school updates, and supporting school self and need assessments. Working with the Senior Program Director for Arts Learning, provide schools with guidance and referrals to meet their specific needs.
• Through on-going electronic and phone communication, help track the progress of each network school in terms of the A+ core components. Maintain these records for use in planning for future assistance. Provide technical assistance for schools and educators both inside and outside the A+ Network. Work with NCAC staff to maintain database information tracking schools, events, constituent, and other important programming data.
• Disseminate program information and maintain on-going communication updates to the network of A+ Schools, non-A+ Schools, constituents, and A+ Fellows. This includes email correspondence, website updating, webinars, conference calls, etc.
• Support the Arts Learning Team in marketing and recruitment efforts to local, state, and national outlets and forums to elevate the visibility of NCAC and the A+ Schools Program as a successful educational model. Serve as a spokesperson for the programs of NCAC Arts Learning. Represent these programs at local, state, and national meetings and conferences to giving informational presentations and fielding questions.

Recruitment Range: $45,431-$63,506

Position/Physical Requirements


  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
  • Evening and weekend work is also required occasionally during the year, with 2-3 weeks of conference work each summer.
  • Travel in state and occasionally out of state is required.
  • This position is deemed eligible for hybrid telework under DNCR’s Telework Policy.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in art, English, one of the performing arts, or arts administration, depending upon specific area of program assignment, from an appropriately accredited institution

and

Two years of experience in arts program administration or development work, one of which may be as a professional artist in a field directly related to the area of program assignment;

or

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
