Job Title: AS400 Developer

Software Developer – AS400

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, implement changes to existing AS400 applications

• Participate in the evaluation, build, testing, and implementation of new products and the modification of existing products

• Define and propose solutions for enhancements and system changes

• Collaborate with Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs

• Estimate development tasks, define work efforts and timelines, provide project statuses

• Work with testers and business teams to triage defects and ensure changes are migrated into production correctly

• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities (sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily sprint meetings)

• Provide on-going production support for AS400 systems and applications

• Perform tasks regarding change control, incident management, and audit

• Support SOX and IT Security guidelines to ensure all systems are kept in compliance

• Create and update the appropriate system documentation

Qualifications and Skills

• 8+ years of demonstrated skills for the development and maintenance support of complex applications (package and custom solutions)

• Experience with AS400 iSeries, RPG (including ILE and free form), ACOM, and ShowCase Query

• System administration, including AS400 access management, security, and printers

• Management of AS400 scheduled and interactive jobs

• Experience with SQL preferred

• Strong team building and consensus building skills

• In-depth development methodology and system implementation experience

• Self-motivated and able to work effectively with little or no supervision

• Effective communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, customer support environment, and with all levels of the organization

Education

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, or related field.
