Job Purpose

National Grid Electricity Transmission relies on asset health data to make critical investment, risk and operational decisions. As our network continues to grow, so does the importance of having trusted, consistent and high-quality asset information.

We're establishing a new Asset Health & Condition Monitoring team to create a single, coordinated approach to how asset condition data is captured, processed, governed and used across the business.

As Asset Health & Condition Monitoring Manager, you'll lead this new capability, bringing together data, process and engineering expertise to improve confidence in the information that underpins our asset health assessments, investment decisions and regulatory submissions.

This is a unique opportunity to shape our understanding of asset priorities, the business wide processes that provide the information and how this is managed and utilised across one of the UK's most critical infrastructure networks.

What you'll do

  • Lead a specialist team responsible for asset health, condition monitoring and asset insights.
  • Develop and deliver National Grid's long-term condition monitoring and asset health strategy.
  • Define the standards, processes and governance that support the collection and management of asset health information.
  • Improve the quality, availability and integrity of asset health information used to inform business-critical decisions.
  • Act as the intelligent customer for asset data requirements, working closely with Digital and Data teams to enhance systems, reporting and data capture processes.
  • Ensure asset health data provides a trusted basis for investment planning, asset risk assessments and regulatory submissions.
  • Oversee the ongoing development and governance of the asset health index and associated performance measures.
  • Assess and prioritise opportunities for new condition monitoring technologies, data sources and analytical approaches.
  • Work closely with Asset Strategy, Risk Modelling, Engineering and Operations teams to ensure our understanding of asset health supports effective decision making.
  • Drive continuous improvement across asset information, data governance and condition monitoring processes.

About you

We're looking for an experienced leader who can combine asset management expertise with a strong understanding of data, governance and business decision-making.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience within asset-intensive industries such as utilities, infrastructure, transportation, energy, manufacturing or related sectors.
  • Experience managing asset information, asset health, asset performance, condition monitoring, asset analytics or asset data programmes.
  • A strong understanding of how asset data supports risk management, investment planning and operational decision-making.
  • Experience in driving change and transformation in data and systems
  • Experience improving data quality, governance frameworks, processes or business procedures.
  • The ability to translate business requirements into practical system and data solutions.
  • Experience working closely with digital, data, engineering and operational teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading and developing technical or multidisciplinary teams.
  • A degree in a STEM, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management systems such as Maximo.
  • Knowledge of asset health indexing, asset risk methodologies or Network Asset Risk Metric (NARM).
  • Experience in data governance, data quality management or asset information management.
  • Chartered status or relevant professional accreditation.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £70,000 – £90,000 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
