Why this role?
This is a great role for an ambitious Contracts Administrator or Project Coordinator from a tier one or two builder who wants to carve out a career in development. You will have a huge opportunity to add value with your experience and have a positive impact on construction delivery, while being on a rapid learning curve in development management.
Our client is a specialist student living developer-owner-operator with a national portfolio. They are scaling fast, giving you growth upside, pipeline and job security in a thriving asset class.
You'll support the Development Manager and Director on an eastern seaboard pipeline of projects in construction delivery while learning the ropes of development management.
Hybrid working model - office, home and some interstate travel (fortnightly with possibility for weekly as projects ramp up).
The team is small, high performing, friendly and helpful, meaning you'll feel supported and welcome from day one.
What will you be doing?
- Support competitive tender processes end to end with tier 1 and 2 builders.
- Work closely with quantity surveyors, consultants and contractors, and be trusted to review their output and push back where needed rather than take it at face value.
- Assessment of variations and claims, procurement and cost management.
- Projects are D&C with evolving design, creating a steady stream of contractual review and negotiation. You will manage associated communication and administration.
- Get involved in capex and value management work for the operational business.
Is this for you?
- You have approximately 4-6 years' experience including a minimum 2-year stint with a tier 1 or tier 2 head contractor.
- You have solid contract administration experience, including assessing variations, claims and extensions of time, and you know how to identify and claw back commercial value on a project.
- You are commercially minded and numerate, able to distinguish material risk from routine administration, and confident challenging a consultant's or contractor's position when something doesn't stack up.
- You are flexible about travel and comfortable spending time on site as the portfolio ramps up.
- You bring genuine curiosity and commercial acumen and want to build a career in development management.
- You're degree qualified in Construction or a related discipline.
