Jefferson is seeking a major gift officer to serve as the primary philanthropic relationship manager for Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation-Elkins Park’s Moss Rehabilitation Institute for Brain Health (MRIBH). Level at hire is flexible depending on applicant experience level and all interested candidates with some previous fundraising experience and an interest in major gift fundraising are encouraged to apply. Particular interest in candidates with veteran services experience or connections.

Reporting to the Director of Development, Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation-Elkins Park, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the fundraising program at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation-Elkins Park’s Moss Rehabilitation Institute for Brain Health (MRIBH). The Moss Rehabilitation Institute for Brain Health (MRIBH) is a comprehensive traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation program that provides interdisciplinary care to veterans and first responders experiencing mild-to-moderate brain injuries (also known as concussions) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

This individual is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals, corporations, foundations, and community organizations that support MRIBH’s mission of providing world-class care for veterans and first responders living with traumatic brain injury (TBI), PTSD, and related invisible wounds. The incumbent will lead and develop a gifts program focusing on the MRIBH location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Lead the development program at MRIBH in securing annual, major, and planned gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, physicians, staff, and community organizations.

•Work collaboratively with Jefferson staff, volunteers, and community partners to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of all amounts from individuals, foundations, and community partners.

•Identify, develop, solicit and recognize donors of major gifts for approved priority projects on an ongoing basis and within the context of annual and capital campaigns.

•Collaborate with Jefferson-Einstein and enterprise volunteers, leaders, Board members, and physicians in developing identification, solicitation and recognition strategies for donors.

•Serve as primary liaison to assigned physicians, departments, and programs.

•Participate in establishing, implementing and evaluating goals, strategies and measurable objectives for MRIBH fundraising.

•Complete call reports of visits, phone calls and other contacts with prospects in a timely manner for input into the database.

•The position will meet or exceed annual goals as defined each year in a personal assessment.

•Work collaboratively with OIA colleagues, the Annual Giving, Corporate & Foundation, Planned Giving and Event teams.

•Work with communications and strategic writing teams to translate strategic initiatives and programmatic/capital needs into persuasive case statements, proposals and compelling gift opportunities.

•Assist in the training and education of MRIBH clinical leadership, staff, board members and volunteers to enhance a culture of philanthropy.

•Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships between leadership, clinicians, and staff with external audiences such as donors, business, and community leaders.


•Adhere to established policies and procedures to ensure effective prospect management and donor clearance process for solicitation.

•Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

•Participate in meetings with the Avalon Action Alliance and MRIBH staff as well as compiling information as needed for required reports and grant applications.

Job Description

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of professional experience required.
• Minimum 2-3 years direct or related fundraising, business development, nonprofit leadership, or relationship management experience. 5-7+ years of direct major gifts experience required to be considered at the senior level.
• Superior interpersonal skills and a capacity to engage, inspire, and persuade both internal and external constituents.
• Experience with database software systems/CRM and Microsoft Office.
• Valid Active Driver’s License
• A demonstrated record of successful fundraising including qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and closing of individual gifts. Veteran and First Responders experience is highly desirable.
• Broad background including experience in several functional areas is desirable. Additional experience in planned, annual, corporate, and foundation giving and events is desirable.
• Superior interpersonal skills and a capacity to engage, inspire, and persuade multiple constituencies, both within the institution and beyond. These skills should be combined with an ability to develop trust and collaborative working relationships with colleagues.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and / or fundraising CRM systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel locally and regionally.
• Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Ability and willingness to work on-site as needed. The position is a hybrid schedule with flexibility to work from home, but the incumbent must be available for in-person meetings as they arise.
