Leading at the intersection of people, business, and technology, the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is one of the most comprehensive business schools in the nation and includes many areas of expertise not found in any other leading institution. The college is comprised of the university’s three accredited business schools, each of which is recognized as among the best in higher education: the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, and the School of Hotel Administration. Our academic research; industry and community engagement; and undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs all reflect the future of business: flexible, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary. The college community includes 244 research faculty, 44,000 alumni, and nearly 3,300 undergraduate, professional, and graduate students. The SC Johnson College of Business has an unparalleled resource base from which to draw—within the college, Cornell Tech in New York City, and Cornell University broadly.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Assistant Director of Student Services is a key member of the Dyson School Student Services team, providing holistic academic advising and support to a diverse undergraduate student population. This highly interactive role partners closely with students to help them develop realistic educational goals, navigate degree requirements and academic policies, address a range of personal and institutional challenges, and connect with resources across the school, college, and university to promote academic success and well-being. The Assistant Director serves as a student advocate, coaches students on effective engagement with faculty and university partners, and fosters a strong sense of community and belonging. Working collaboratively with the advising team, this position supports new student orientation, contributes to assessment and retention initiatives, and plays an integral role in the implementation of the Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars Program (PSSP) as Dyson's college liaison. The role also serves as the liaison for the Learning Strategies Center Scholarship program, guiding students through the application and award process. In addition, the Assistant Director may participate in school- and university-wide committees focused on enhancing the student experience and may assume other administrative responsibilities within the Office of Student Services as needed. As a member of the Cornell community, the successful candidate will foster a culture of belonging by demonstrating collaboration, respect, inclusion, and a commitment to supporting the success and wellbeing of others.
