JOB PURPOSE: As a member of The Law Fund team at Stanford Law School, this field fundraiser is part of a team focused on building philanthropic relationships between SLS and its alumni and friends. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of engagement, cultivation, and solicitation for four reunion cohorts as well as cultivating and soliciting support from alumni in specific territories across the U.S. They will develop and implement fundraising strategies, and assist with designing and managing language and content for related print and electronic appeals. They will partner with colleagues and influence them toward shared goals of class-specific participation and giving annually. Reporting to the Associate Director of The Law Fund, they will also function as a qualification officer, identifying prospects for future, long-term engagement. This position will work with three or more reunion classes and is usually working with both the current and next year classes simultaneously on organizing their reunion class giving campaign and training volunteers to solicit their peers for gifts, primarily to the Law Fund. Our preference is for this to be a Bay Area hybrid position. CORE DUTIES*: Work within assigned territories to recruit, solicit and manage volunteers for assigned reunion classes. Develop fundraising strategies, and track and analyze results of development activities. Identify and prioritize prospects, make volunteer prospects assignments, prepare background material for solicitations, and follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned solicitations. Establish ongoing relationships with individual alumni through personal visits, phone calls, and other meaningful contacts. Monitor, analyze, and report on overall results to internal and external constituencies, as needed. Assist with texting campaigns for Stanford Day of Giving and Calendar Year End/Fiscal Year End campaigns, and all necessary follow-up. *Other duties may also be assigned. Core Duties : Work with a portfolio of assigned prospects/donors to cultivate, solicit, and steward their support. Develop fundraising strategies, and track and analyze results of development activities. Identify and prioritize prospects, make volunteer prospects assignments, prepare background material for solicitations, and follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned solicitations. Establish ongoing relationships with individual alumni through personal visits, phone calls, and meaningful contacts. Monitor, analyze, and report on overall results to internal and external constituencies, as needed. Assist with design and management of appeals (e.g., direct mail, email, video, phone, and other channels) to target key populations to maximize fundraising potential. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Demonstrated experience with fundraising in a higher education environment. Ability to develop and initiate new strategies. Adept at problem solving, creating contingency plans and handling emergencies when necessary. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and effectively develops relationships that enhance overall development goals. Ability to work well under pressure and manage projects simultaneously. Skilled at articulating compelling cases for major gifts and annual discretionary support. Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set and meet deadlines. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
