  • Class 2 - $63,254 - $71,186 + 12% Superannuation (depending on skills and experience)

About The Role

The Assistant Early Childhood Educator sits within the Family & Children's Services team in the Community Wellbeing Branch and plays an important role in supporting the delivery of engaging, inclusive and developmentally appropriate programs for children. Working alongside qualified educators, you will help create safe, nurturing learning environments that support children's wellbeing, growth and development while fostering strong partnerships with families and the community.

As part of a collaborative and child-focused team, you'll contribute to quality educational experiences that reflect current best practice and the Early Years Learning Framework, helping children develop a strong sense of belonging, being and becoming.

Positions are based at Lady Huntingfield Early Learning and Family Services Centre.

A Little More About The Role

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging education and care programs aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Support children's learning, development, health and wellbeing through high-quality supervision and care, including sustainable indoor and outdoor learning experiences that connect children with the natural world.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, allied health professionals, inclusion services and community organisations to support positive outcomes.
  • Identify, document and report child safety, wellbeing, suspected abuse or neglect concerns in accordance with Child Safe Standards, legislation and City of Melbourne policies.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings and continuous improvement initiatives that support high-quality outcomes for children and families.

You May Also Be

  • Qualified with a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or approved equivalent).
  • Experienced working within an early childhood education and care setting.
  • Committed to inclusive practices and supporting children with diverse learning, developmental and wellbeing needs.
  • Knowledgeable in trauma-informed practice and experienced in supporting vulnerable children and families.
  • Skilled in building positive relationships with children, families and professional stakeholders.

What Your Experience Might Look Like – Key Selection Criteria

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or approved equivalent qualification).
  • Demonstrated experience working within an Early Childhood Services environment.
  • Knowledge and application of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards, Child Safe Standards and Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Demonstrated understanding of inclusive and trauma-informed practice, with the ability to support children with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check, Police Check, First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or willingness to obtain)
